Tom Schwartz’s luck had been on a bit of a downswing. The Vanderpump Rules alum faced the harsh reality of closing his bar with business partner and friend, Tom Sandoval. Then, the Pump Rules cast was let go in favor of a crop of fresh faces. Now Tom is sharing his ideas for a colorful new career.
Could Tom Schwartz swap Vanderpump Rules for a new career?
Tom has secured a new role at Jax Taylor’s bar. He will be promoting the location occasionally. Yay? Although he is still disappointed by the way VPR ended, Tom has other career ambitions.
Recently, he was a guest on the podcast Pursuit of Sassiness with Michelle Saniei. “Well, I’ve kind of tried it, I dabble. There’s part of me – I don’t know if I’ve ever said this publicly – that wants to be an artist,” Tom stated. “Will I ever pursue painting as a career? Do I have any talent? Not really.”
He continued, “But you know what the definition of an artist is? ‘Hey, I could do that. Yeah, but you didn’t.’ It’s just you’ve got to start.” Tom added, “And I love painting … We should’ve done a sip and paint for this episode.” That would have been cool!
Michelle, who stars on The Valley, understood Tom’s feelings. She tried to learn the piano during the pandemic, but was also caring for her daughter. Then Tom revealed another talent. “I’m not musically inclined, but I did, during the pandemic, I became a DJ – a bedroom DJ. And I love DJing … I’m OK,” Tom explained. “I was getting to the point where I was confident enough to DJ at TomTom.” Watch your back, DJ James Kennedy. “I think I would be a great daytime pool DJ,” the VPR alum added.
Then Tom reflected on closing Schwartz & Sandy’s. “I’ve had a really lovely life. I think up until Schwartz & Sandy’s, which was my first real, real hard life lesson, life challenge,” he said. “It almost broke me spiritually, mentally,” Tom explained. “I almost went broke financially. But I think I needed it, in a twisted way. I think it made me into the person I am now. I just feel like I have so much more grit.”
Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
