Nothing brings people together like being trapped! That’s what happened with Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey and RHOA alum Kim Zolciak. And Cynthia is opening up about her friendship with Kim in the aftermath of her loyalty to friend NeNe Leakes.
Cynthia first appeared on RHOA for Season 3. The show mainly featured her relationship with Peter Thomas and her friendship with NeNe. Cynthia is a fiercely loyal friend. Because of that she didn’t really give herself the chance to get close with the other women. However, a lot has happened since, Cynthia and NeNe have had their share of ups and downs and Cynthia has formed new friendships and gotten into her RHOA groove.
Cynthia Bailey and Kim Zolciak bonded on Got To Get Out
One of those friendships is with Kim. While the two girls were on RHOA at the same time, it wasn’t their time there that brought them together. They have another show to thank for that.
Kim and Cynthia both joined a reality competition show on Hulu. Got to Get Out, saw them trapped in a mansion with other competitors. And being in the mansion together (and roommates to boot!) helped strengthen their relationship.
“I actually, you know, Got to Get Out the Hulu show with Kim, which we were roommates and we actually connected because we were never close on Housewives,” Cynthia shared with PageSix Radio. “We had a great time together shooting that show and I consider her a friend at this point. I mean, once you’re like literally locked up in a mansion with someone. ‘You’re bed is right next to mine. We’re squashing this. We’re gonna be friends.’”
The host asked Cynthia if her experience with Kim on Got to Get Out made her wish she made more of an effort to become closer with Kim and other Housewives during her tenure on RHOA.
“You know, when I came on the show, I came on with NeNe,” Cynthia explained. “I came on as her friend and it was my first season and I just really wanted to be loyal to her. I wanted to be friends with other girls, but I didn’t know how to navigate it at the time, I didn’t NOT want to be friends with them, but I just didn’t want to go against her because that’s who brought me in.”
Cynthia explained that over time she realized that she could have made other friendships too but she didn’t thanks to her loyalty to NeNe.
“It was my first season, child,” Cynthia said. “I didn’t know what I was doing.”
