Brittany Cartwright Should Leave The Valley After Season 2 Reunion — Opinion

Brittany Cartwright just filmed her most emotional season of The Valley. Her divorce from Jax Taylor has left her life in tatters. Now, Brittany is left struggling to pick up the pieces as she forges a new chapter in her book. Perhaps it might be best if Brittany now considers placing herself on a brief pause from The Valley, if only so that she can make moves to find her innermost peace in private.

I’ll be blunt. Certain scenes involving Brittany were challenging to watch this season. Her life is falling apart on a nationally televised scale, and her pain is evident. I have compassion for her, but at times, it felt like Brittany was trying to overcompensate for the losses in her life by poking holes in the lives of others.

Instead of acting as the social director on this series, it might be best for Brittany to bow out for a season. Meanwhile, The Valley Season 3 can focus on babies, a wedding, and the relationships of the stars who tried to stand by her side, like Zack Wickham.

During the reunion for The Valley Season 2, one thing was clear: Brittany is exhausted. Divorcing anyone is challenging, but leaving a narcissist is even harder. Filming likely did nothing to ease her current mental load. If anything, filming for this season made her headspace even cloudier and darker, as the amount of energy one needs to maintain storylines, dialogue, and authenticity on Bravo is high.

During the first few seconds of the reunion, Brittany even admitted that she was “a nervous wreck.” Then, she noted that she was tired, since Jax had been messing with her emotions all day, every day. Now, Brittany has lost her sparkle.

However, her divorce from Jax remains ongoing. Even when the ink dries on their marriage, she will still have to navigate the complex WeHo waters of their new court-ordered norms, which, will likely not be easy. Brittany needs to feel all of these feelings, but adding on filming to this process might not be in the best interests of her mental health.

Thankfully, for all parties involved, Jax recently announced that he was leaving filming on The Valley ahead of Season 3. Now, whether this was his idea or not, no one is saying. Regardless, Jax is done (for now).

His exit arrived online via a statement that read, “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley. Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and my coparenting relationship. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself, especially for our son, Cruz.”

That said, Jax has been a work in progress since 2013, which is when he first stepped into his villainous role on Vanderpump Rules Season 1. From this year on, whenever his feet got held to the flames, Jax always claimed that he would start doing better. Hopefully, Jax gets it now.

Brittany should take a season off and return in the future

I like Brittany. However, I miss the Brittany we first met during Season 4 of VPR. She was light, fun, and mostly peaceful. Except when rumors of Jax cheating on her started to surface, as these rumors involving Jax often did.

To get our little beer cheese-loving Kentucky muffin back into this headspace, though, is a tricky ask. She will never see Jax in the same light again, as expected. Additionally, she now has a differently-abled child to think about. His interventions at this young age are crucial for his success later in life.

So now, Brittany needs to focus on her healing to regain her sparkle. And she also needs to focus on Cruz, making her mental load fuller than most.

Even still, Brittany needs to take a step back to ponder all that she has experienced. It is hard to help others when one is still trying to learn how to help themselves. Now, on a petty side, stepping back will finally allow her a chance to behave as Jax might. Please, allow me to explain.

Brittany revealed at the reunion that Jax was purposefully prolonging their divorce. He might need alimony from Brittany, as she exposed. Now, since Jax has walked away from filming and his bar, the odds of him filing for financial support are high. But if Brittany is also not filming, well, the joke will be on him.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
