RHOC Season 20 Needs To Be an All-Stars Season Before a Huge Cast Shakeup — Opinion

Real Housewives of Orange County Season 19 is doing the very least. Instead of engaging storylines, we have a blogger narrative, a janky lie detector test, and a whole cast pile-up on one woman. Overall, the longest-running series in this franchise has now officially become a chore to watch. So, what’s the cure? How about an All-Star cast for RHOC Season 20?

Hear me out. With 19 seasons to its name, this cast has presented us with many Real Housewives stars. Looking at all of these women, it could be incredibly fun to invite back a sampling of the most polarizing and/or pleasant ladies for an All-Star version of this series for a one-time deal, to help wipe the Season 19 storyline slump clean. And, when Season 20 ends, Bravo can then clean house and start anew with a rebooted cast, another concept that this series desperately needs, in MY OPINION.

The RHOC Season 19 cast isn’t delivering, and RHOC Season 20 needs to be an event

Watching an entire cast turn against one human NEVER makes for good television. Yet, this is where we are finding ourselves as RHOC Season 19 rolls along. Is Katie Ginella an unreliable narrator? At times, yes, but so is the rest of her cast.

Hecksies, Gretchen Rossi has changed her story on the air several times. We heard her say that she went to the hospital. Then, we watched her change her story several beats later. She also said that she had never experienced a polygraph test before, which she absolutely did during her short stint on another series, Marriage Boot Camp.

These are provable lies. Yet, Gretchen passed her lie detector test with flying colors. Meanwhile, the rest of this cast has also lied, so WHY are they all coming so hard for Katie, going so far as to kick her out of a filmed event, all because of an incredibly unreliable test? In my opinion, it’s because these women have nothing else to give us.

In general, the aggressive energy that some of these women have toward Katie sucks. She feels it as well, hence her saying that she needed to take a break from this cast midway through filming. Well, guess what, Katie? So do I (and many others).

But first, we need a palate cleanser. Viewers deserve nice things for their patience. And what better way to reward us than with a fun, highly entertaining, all-eyes-back-on-this series-styled event for RHOC Season 20?

RHOC Season 19 feels draining. Does anyone else miss the whoop-it-up days? If so, how fun would it be if the network went a different route for one season, featuring some of its greatest past players in Season 20? These ladies could bring this series back to life, complete with a discount casserole code, for our troubles.

Most fans appreciate familiarity, but not every fan appreciates messiness. Therefore, the making of an All-Star cast might be tricky. However, over the past 19 seasons, several names have given us either gold or gutter. And some of these stars might be incredible to mix back into the fold, if only to see where their old alliances and behaviors now fall.

Meghan King Edmonds, Lauri Peterson, Jeana Keough, Lydia McLaughlin, Lynne Curtin, Lizzie Rovsek, Tamra Judge, Vicki Gunvalson, and Shannon Beador would be my fever dream cast come true. These ladies have it all. From their past feuds to their longstanding friendships, some of which are on different levels now, this cast would deliver times ten.

Case in point, Meghan never needed a polygraph machine on this series. Instead, she called your mom, your grandmother, and the neighbors, and I loved it. We need more of that, using hands-on, well-known faces like hers to help drag old storylines and feuds out from their graves. RHOC Season 20 could be their All-Star swan song, to battle things out one final time before they depart from our screens for good.

After RHOC Season 20, there needs to be a cast shakeup

Whether or not an All-Star cast ever happens, most viewers can likely agree that something has to change within this series. Now, the most likely scenario involves their cameras picking back up sometime soon to film for Season 20, using most of the same cast members from Season 19. These women would then film, fight, and pull pickles out of their purses, just for funsies. And afterwards, we would all be right back in this place, wondering where this city first went off its rails.

If this happens, viewers will likely start tuning out in droves. But what if Bravo aired an All-Star cast to change the tide in the OC? And after that, they delivered us a cast shakeup for RHOC Season 21? Listen, this city has to have other rich fighters, each ready to bring us something new, right?

We can let Heather Dubrow move to a wealthier series, and then show the door to all of the bad actors who continually bring nothing new to this city, year after year. Then, Bravo can add in a solid mix of new faces, anchored by one or two returning personalities from this city. It would be new and fresh, plus, it would give us all something new to dissect and trauma-bond over. So, who’s with me?

The Real Housewives of Orange County is available to stream on Peacock. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
