It may have taken longer than expected, but Vanderpump Rules alums Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix finally realized their culinary dream. Their West Hollywood sandwich shop, Something About Her, opened in May 2024. The opening did well, with the line snaking around the block. However, Chef Penny Davidi filed a lawsuit against the ladies in 2024, alleging breach of contract.
Penny was hired in 2023 to work as the chef at Something About Her. However, she claimed that Ariana and Katie didn’t follow the original agreement. According to Penny, as Director of Culinary and COO, she was promised a 10 percent cut of the company.

Allegedly, Ariana, Penny, and Katie were to “jointly engage in the business of developing, creating, owning, operating, promoting” the restaurant, merchandise, and lifestyle brand. Penny claimed that she was supposed to be paid a salary of $7,500 a month. This amount would eventually jump up to $10,000.
However, the chef alleged that Katie and Ariana did not follow that plan. In her lawsuit, Penny asked that the duo be forced to comply with the original agreement. In response, the VPR stars denied Penny’s claims.
US Weekly reported that Penny informed the court that she was dismissing the claim on October 2. However, Penny stated that certain conditions had to be met by the parties involved in the lawsuit. The conditions were not made public. The case was originally scheduled to see the inside of a courtroom on March 16, 2026.
During Season 11 of VPR, Katie and Ariana explained that they had a falling out with Penny over finances. While Penny wanted to be a partner in Something About Her, the ladies offered her a salary along with 10% of the profits for that location. However, Penny wasn’t happy with that offer.
Now Katie and Ariana can continue to grow their successful business without this lawsuit hanging over their heads.
