Real Housewives of New Jersey star Luis Ruelas’ legal action against Vanessa Reiser has dragged on for years. After Luis and Vanessa, his ex-fiancée, split up, Luis sued her to recover the engagement ring. Vanessa filed a counterclaim, accusing Luis of alleged controlling behavior. Eventually, the former couple reached an agreement. However, they were instructed not to speak negatively about each other.
In October 2024, Luis filed court documents, accusing Vanessa of posting “defamatory content” via social media. However, Vanessa denied any wrongdoing. Even Luis’ wife, Teresa Giudice’s frenemy, Kim DePaola, was dragged into the lawsuit.
Well, it seems that this ordeal may be over.

US Weekly reported that Luis dropped his bid to have Vanessa relocated to jail. He filed court papers on October 21, 2025, to dismiss the case. And Vanessa’s lawyers confirmed to the judge that the case was being dropped.
In one of Luis’ filings, he claimed that Vanessa was following Gia Giudice, his step-daughter, on Instagram. “And makes her presence known there too, causing uncomfortable feelings and emotions for a young girl,” Luis noted in his court documents, adding that Vanessa’s actions caused “daily emotional distress” for his family.
In his filing, Luis stated, “The impact of Reiser’s statements has been deeply damaging, affecting my personal life, my relationship with my wife and children, and my professional reputation.” So, he asked that Vanessa be found in contempt and serve time in jail.
Along with his documents, Luis included declarations to bolster his claims. And Teresa’s former RHONJ co-star, Jackie Goldschneider, supported Luis. “[Reiser] often made derogatory statements about [Ruelas] to me during our interactions,” Jackie said in her declaration.
Meanwhile, Vanessa claimed that there was no proof she followed Gia on Instagram, and that statements made to third parties were “misrepresented.” Thankfully, this messy situation is over.
