RHOC Alum Katie Ginella Disappointed Cast Went to Japan for Trip: ‘Zero Respect for Asian Culture’

Katie Ginella had a rough time in Season 19 of The Real Housewives of Orange County. She was on the outs with the cast after taping Shannon Beador without her consent. Then, she failed a lie detector test designed to find out if she was leaking information to a podcaster.

After that, the RHOC cast refused to film with Katie, and she sat out the rest of Season 19. So, it wasn’t a shock when she was fired. “After two seasons as a cast member on RHOC, the network has decided to move forward with Season 20 without me,” Katie announced.

During Season 19, Katie’s co-stars, Gretchen Rossi and Jennifer Pedranti, posted a racially insensitive video to social media. In the clip, they lip-synced to Asian voices while performing martial arts-type moves. “I’m the very first Asian American on Orange County. And so being singled out from this cast, it’s all too familiar, the feelings and all that,” Katie said at the time.

Well, Katie has some thoughts about the RHOC’s cast trip to Japan. She captioned her video, “Shocked. But not shocked.“

Katie said via an Instagram video. “I just found out that the Real Housewives of Orange County confirmed that they went to Japan on their cast trip. And I can’t for the life of me figure out why they would go to a country when they have zero respect for Asian culture.” She added, “Most of them, not all of them.”

The former RHOC star added that she shared her adoption story, and “wanted to go to Korea, possibly with them …” Katie added, “It broke me. And it’s not because I need to be there or need to be with those ladies. It’s because of what that trip represents.”

She continued, “I deserved respect. I deserved inclusion.” Katie added, “I deserved a place there,” adding, “every minority does, especially now, when they’re being targeted in our country. ”

The Real Housewives of Orange County is streaming on Peacock.
