Jimmy Kimmel recently took a dig at the US President Donald Trump’s “bruised” hand. He suspects it was due to First Lady Melania Trump “swatting” his hand. Kimmel’s comments came a few days after Melania demanded his firing from the show following his previous comments about her.
Jimmy Kimmel makes fun of Donald Trump’s bruised hand
On a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the titular host poked fun at Donald Trump’s “bruise hand.” He brought up the topic while talking about King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s state visit to the United States this week. He played a press clip and asked his audience to look at Trump and Melania’s hands, adding, “The hands say so much.”
In the video, the US’s first couple enters the lobby holding hands. Meanwhile, Charles and Camilla stand next to them for a press photoshoot. As the camera frames the two couples, Trump and Melania stop holding their hands. The show then focuses on their hands, specifically when the President subtly taps his wife’s hand with the back of his finger. After a short while, the couple holds hands once again.
After the video ended, Kimmel sarcastically says, “Considering the week I’ve had with the first couple, I’m just going to say that is a completely normal way to interact for two people who are very much in love.” The host then remarked, “Maybe that’s why his hands are all bruised—from Melania swatting them away.”
Kimmel has publicly criticized Trump and his administration for years. However, his remarks from last week about Melania as an “expectant widow” took a much darker turn. This is because a shooting took place at the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, April 25. The incident could have led to serious casualties.
For context, during the dinner, a 31-year-old man attempted to storm the ballroom with multiple weapons. However, the security officials were quick to subdue him. Following the incident, the first lady became vocal about Kimmel’s remarks and demanded that he be fired from the show. But during the April 28 episode, the talk show host clarified that his remark was a joke about the first couple’s age difference and not a “call to assassination.”
