According to royal author Christopher Andersen, Prince Harry and Prince William’s bond was ruined before Harry started dating Meghan Markle. Anderson told Page Six, “People didn’t really acknowledge the fact that there was all this tension between Harry and William ever since they were small children, wrestling in the back of the car.” He continued that it was “made very clear” to the younger brother that “he was lesser than” William.
This allegedly “left a real mark on them and really kind of doomed their relationship, ultimately.” Harry and William’s relationship reportedly took a turn for the worse after the former began dating Markle. Anderson told Page Six that the Prince of Wales’ wife, Kate Middleton, often tried to mediate between the brothers. The author of “KATE! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will Be Queen,” added, “She wanted them to make amends.” Recently, In Touch‘s source reported how estrangement from Harry has deeply affected William.
“Everyone assumes William just hates his brother and has written him off,” said the source. They claimed that “it’s actually a lot more nuanced than that.” The source continued that William and “Harry were always so close. Losing him has left a huge hole for William, whether he will admit that or not.” They further explained, “Kate, of course, sees it all. She says it’s affecting him much more than he wants to let on.” The source continued, “That’s why she’s been on this campaign to try and bridge that gap between William and Harry.” While she “misses Harry herself, but more than anything she wants to see this weight lifted off William,” they added.
