Body-shaming is a regular issue on reality TV. Women on TV are often expected to live up to highly unrealistic expectations. And Kyle Richards of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is not down with it. The RHOBH OG recently addressed Lisa Rinna’s comments about fellow cast member Sutton Stracke’s body in her latest book.
Kyle Richards said Rinna’s comments in her book were “not nice”
Kyle and Sutton may not always get along, but that doesn’t mean that Kyle thinks people should say bad things about her co-star’s body. During a recent Amazon Live, a viewer asked the RHOBH star what she thought about Rinna’s comments about Sutton in her book.
ICYMI, Lisa just released a memoir called You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It. She’s been doing the rounds to promote it, and fans caught the not-subtle dig at Sutton’s appearance in the book. “She’s frumpy, there’s no sex appeal about her whatsoever, and she’s got a weird body. So god bless her,” Lisa wrote.
Lisa’s comment has already sparked chatter among Bravo fans. Everyone knows that there is no love lost between Lisa and Sutton. But talking about her appearance like that seemed unnecessarily harsh. Other Housewives have been negatively impacted by body-shaming issues in the past, resulting in self-worth issues and even some turning to cosmetic surgery.
Kyle said that the comments were “not nice” when the topic came up. She didn’t go into detail, but it was clear that she thought the dig crossed the line.
“People have feelings,” Kyle said. “It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do. We’re all human, and we all have feelings.”
