Cynthia Bailey may not be holding a peach full-time this season, but she’s far from out of the loop. During a recent chat with Reality Tea thanks to Hayu, the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum made it clear she’s still very much in the mix — and according to her, things are already getting complicated. Here’s what she had to say…
The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast is connected, but has plenty of tension

Going into the new season, Cynthia admitted she didn’t fully know what to expect from the group dynamic; especially with new faces entering the mix.
“It’s always about chemistry when you put an ensemble cast together,” she explained. “Even two people can throw off the group.”
Still, she’s feeling good about where things landed.
Cynthia described the cast as having “a lot of great chemistry,” even calling it a “spicy Season 17.” And honestly, that tracks with what we’ve seen so far.
Strong chemistry doesn’t mean smooth sailing.
Cynthia confirmed what viewers are already picking up on — this group is divided, and there’s a very specific reason why.
“We’re kind of divided,” she revealed, pointing to tension between Shamea Morton and Porsha Williams.
And this isn’t just surface-level drama. “That friendship has a lot of history. It’s still in the healing process,” Cynthia explained.
Because of that, the rest of the group is naturally falling into different lanes. No one is outright picking sides, but people are gravitating toward who they feel closest to — and that’s creating a noticeable split.
“You can’t fake that stuff,” she added.
Why Shamea and Porsha’s conflict runs deeper than you think

If you’re expecting a quick resolution between Shamea and Porsha, don’t.
According to Cynthia, their situation is layered in a way that makes it harder for the rest of the group to even step in.
“It’s a little tricky for us to navigate … it just goes a lot deeper,” she said, noting that their history goes back generations, even involving their families.
And that kind of tension doesn’t just disappear because cameras are rolling.
On top of that, everyone in the group is dealing with their own real-life situations, which is only adding to the divide.
“If you’re going through a divorce, you gravitate to people going through a divorce,” Cynthia said. “It’s just a little all over the place.”
Even with the group split, Cynthia doesn’t see the dynamic as entirely negative.
“Friend groups can kind of divide up … but it’s also real,” she explained.
And that’s really the key here — this season might feel messy early on, but it’s grounded in something authentic. Which, let’s be honest, usually makes for the best kind of Housewives drama.
Cynthia chooses “peace” on RHOA, until there’s no other choice

Even though she’s not holding a peach full-time, Cynthia made it clear she’s not staying out of everything.
“I choose peace … until I can’t,” she said.
And when that moment comes?
“I have to activate … take off the friend shirt and put the housewife shirt back on.”
So while she may be entering the season with a calmer approach, don’t expect her to stay neutral forever.
Because if there’s one thing Cynthia is going to do, it’s step in when it counts.
There’s often an assumption that “friends of” take a backseat — but Cynthia made it clear that’s not the case for her.
“I don’t get pulled in too much, but I’m in no way off-limits,” she said. And that includes conflict.
Cynthia teased that she has a “little back and forth” with one of the women this season, proving she’s still very much part of the action.
