Tamra Judge recently revealed why Liz McGraw exited The Real Housewives of Rhode Island. While Liz was initially a fan favorite, she was involved in some nasty feuds with her co-stars. Still, many RHORI fans were stunned and saddened that Liz decided not to return for Season 2.
Tamra Judge has spoken with the Real Housewives of Rhode Island alum
During Season 1 of the hit Bravo series, Liz sparred with her friends, doll enthusiast Alicia Carmody, and keeper of receipts Jo-Ellen Tiberi. The trio argued over whether Alicia was ever “homeless” in one of the biggest blow-ups of the season. Following the spicy reunion, Liz announced her departure in an Instagram post.
“I’m full of gratitude for the amazing opportunity to appear on this show,” she wrote. “As filming for Season 2 begins, I have made the decision to take a step back and focus on my family, my work, and my passions.”
Naturally, Tamra shared the real reason that Liz bowed out of the series. “I don’t like it at all,” Tamra told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea, referring to Liz’s exit. “I think that she brought a lot [to the show].” The Real Housewives of Orange County star added, “I had talked to her off-season, and she was really struggling with the hate on social media.”
According to Tamra, “People need to chill. It’s TV. It’s entertainment. You don’t need to go for their children and their businesses and write bad Yelp reviews and send death threats,” she added.
Meanwhile, Liz’s friend, Dolores Catania, also shared that social media played a role in Liz’s departure. Dolores, who briefly appeared as a friend of the RHORI cast, previously shared that Liz was “very happy.” However, she also pointed out the backlash that Liz experienced. “She got hammered on social media. What did she do to deserve that?” Dolores remarked.
According to Andy Cohen, the “door is always open” for Liz’s RHORI comeback. Fingers crossed!
