Many perceived Princess Eugenie’s baby announcement as a way of overshadowing Meghan Markle’s 45th birthday celebration. This came after none of the royal family members publicly wished the Duchess a happy birthday. Fans claimed that Eugenie was taking revenge for a 2018 incident. It was when Markle announced her pregnancy during Eugenie’s wedding, shifting attention away from her big day.
The announcement revived memories of Prince Harry and Meghan sharing pregnancy news during Eugenie’s 2018 royal wedding
Meghan Markle celebrated her 45th birthday on August 4. She didn’t receive any public wishes from the royal family, reportedly because of the usual protocol they follow. That is, the official wishes are kept only for the working royals, whereas private citizens are wished privately, as royal commentator Tom Sykes told Page Six.
However, the royal family did take to social media to share joyous news about Princess Eugenie welcoming her third baby. They wrote in the caption, “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20 pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal. The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces.”
Fans connected the dots between the timelines of both events. They recalled the 2018 situation and believed the timing of the baby announcement may have been intentional. This is because the news was announced to the world a day after the birth, on the same day as Markle’s birthday.
A user said, “So Eugenie announces that she had her baby on the same day as Meghan Markle’s bday. They love to overshadow someone else’s moments, like Eugenie’s wedding with their pregnancy news. I think this was her way of getting back at Meghan for sure. Well deserved!” Another user disagreed, saying, “It was merely coincidence in Portugal, they don’t go home the same day so they waited the next day to announce.”
