Braunwyn Windham-Burke Says Bravo Doesn’t Care About Mental Health

Gone but not (yet) forgotten. Braunwyn Windham-Burke was on Real Housewives of Orange County for only two seasons. It was merely a year ago that we learned she would not be welcomed back for season 16 of the show. Braunwyn left saying the environment of the show was “toxic” but that she would be open to unscripted work elsewhere. We know, babe.

For better or worse, Braunwyn gave RHOC her all. She shared her massive family, evolving sexuality, and sobriety journey with the world. After her firing, Andy Cohen explained his decision saying, “Listening to her at the reunion, uh, made me and I think, and the other producers feel like, you know what, maybe at this moment in time being on TV, wasn’t the healthiest spot for she and her family.”

During the reunion, Braunwyn stood accused of offering cocaine to Shannon Beador’s teenage daughter. “There was a lot of tension with the cast. I knew what I was getting into and it wasn’t hard,” B said afterward. Now, she’s back on the interview circuit and revisiting her alleged mistreatment during her time with Bravo and daddy-Andy.

@therealhousewiveszone shared an interview with Braunwyn on the Behind The Velvet Rope podcast. B shared that she found Andy’s comments regarding her firing to mean she wasn’t considered “mentally stable” by the network.

“I mean, I took it as you’re not mentally stable. That’s how I was like, huh? That’s weird. Cause none of you talked to me. So how the hell would you know? No one talked to me, no one checked in,” she explained.

“You know, I have past trauma. I have stuff. I work on them, but let’s be honest. I’ve seen many Housewives spiral and the cameras are right there, front and center. They don’t care about our mental health. That’s bulls***. Don’t even pretend to care about our mental health. You don’t, as long as we’re not a liability and we’re bringing in money.”

Braunwyn added that the women on Housewives are considered “easily replaceable.” She advised other Housewives “not to get a big head” because “there’s a million of us that want this opportunity and everyone thinks it’ll be different for them.” Take heed!
