We’re six weeks deep already, so it’s time for our Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 6 recap! This episode of Southern Charm emotionally exhausted me as bonds were tested within the friend group. The last episode left off with Shep Rose, of all people, trying to keep the peace at his peasant pheasant dinner party. It just goes to show no matter how rich you are, money can’t buy you class.

Venita Aspen finally makes a side-by-side appearance with her boyfriend, Manny, and I love how they are playing house as her new beau joked about having a de-linter for her dog’s sweater, even though it has fur. Classic.

JT Thomas is right back at it, embracing his bachelor lifestyle, asking the age-old question, “Do I drink tea out of a bowl or a wine glass?” The options are limitless. This episode also showed Patricia Altschul’s butler, Michael Kelcourse, on his healing journey two years past his incident. Sadly, the episode just keeps showing how hurt people hurt people with the lies deepening. Here’s everything that went down in Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 6: “Family Bonds.”

The Charmers rehash

Is it weird that Madison LeCroy and Paige DeSorbo are besties? Yes. Yes, it is. It’s like the dark and light sides combusting, forming a weird yet approachable mean girl who loves talking smack. Yikes – I think I just described most of the viewers, including myself.

Firstly, Craig Conover’s new home is BEAUTIFUL. I am here for it, from the Wayne Scotting, perfectly styled furniture, and exposed brick walls. Currently, Paige’s big concern is not having a social circle in Charleston; however, nothing helps to make friends like a friendly gossip sesh.

Madison, Craig, and Paige jump right into the deep end, discussing what they think really happened between Taylor Ann Green and Austen Kroll. Forget the store-bought lemonade that Paige is trying to pass off as homemade; fans want the actual tea. All agree Taylor’s ambush of Olivia Flowers the night before was not well thought out, and it felt like she was trying to save her hiney.

We don’t talk about the timeline

Ever the East Coaster, Paige notes that lying is the most shameful offense, saying Taylor “lied for six months and lied every time she saw her best friend.” Madison seems to agree with her new friend’s assessment, noting, “The timelines is the most f*cked up.” Each compares what they have been told by Austen, reiterating the Trop Hop founder claimed he wasn’t speaking with Olivia at the time of the hookup, with Paige sharing she thought it happened after their time in New York during the Season 8 reunion.

Craig quickly points out that the sleepover that JT spoke of happened recently, adding more divergence to the timeline. Paige unequivocally states, “They have been sleeping together for months.”

Madison is trying to unburn the image Whitney Sudler-Smith engrained into her head after announcing Taylor had sent a select few a naked photo. Conveniently, Craig saw the photo and forgot to tell his long-distance girlfriend. The image, according to Madison, is full frontal and ballsy. Craig notes the lighting was dark, but no one gives a damn about the lighting!

Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 6 Recap: Austen looks for allies

Austen takes a step back out of Charleston and heads to his family’s home in Seabrook Island, where he is hoping to either be given unconditional support regarding his actions or a home-cooked meal. Rocking a baseball cap and jeans, he somehow looks douchier than usual, if that is even possible. Wendy and Tom seem like really good parents, so what went wrong?

Austen spins his sob story about how Olivia isn’t speaking with him while munching on a fancy cheese board. I can’t tell if his parents are buying the entire story, but to their credit, they do listen intently. Tom asks why Olivia hates his son, and Austen naturally sputters before revealing his relationship with Taylor, leaving both his parents audibly stunned and giving a bombastic side-eye. Quite literally, Austen is still a shmuck.

What happened to Olivia’s brother on Southern Charm?

Olivia was rocked by the news of her younger brother Conner passing away following a long battle with Lyme Disease.

During what is supposed to be a nice dinner, Leva Bonaparte and Venita get word from Taylor that Olivia’s brother, Conner, is not okay. No one can get a hold of Olivia, and my stomach is in my throat. The girls immediately stop filming and run to their friend’s aid. The scene picks back up with Austen crying, which, for once, feels very real. This whole episode is a nightmare, and I can’t stop the tears from flowing with my heart aching for Olivia.

This episode showed a whole new side to each of the Charmers, noting life can change at any moment. It was healing to see the group come together and support one of their own during their time of need as everyone ached for Olivia.

Southern Charm Season 9 airs Thursday at 9/8c on Bravo, streaming next day on Peacock.
