Why Sandoval’s Secret Nickname For Ariana Is So Insulting

There is no love lost between Vanderpump Rules stars Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval. I mean, the singer showed his true colors when he chose to cheat on his partner of ten years with a woman whose only wish was to grab all the male attention around her. What was once considered the most stable relationship in the WeHo group turned out to be toxic and overflowing with gaslit moments. Perhaps the worst feeling is being given a cute nickname only to find out it was meant to belittle you. I guess no one told Tom that being a caring and intelligent woman is in style.

What’s in a Name?

Smooches. Cuddlebear. Honey. These are all acceptable (yet vomit-inducing) nicknames meant for your significant other. However, in her new book, Single AF Cocktails, Ariana shares with readers that Tom started calling her the “information booth,” which, at the time, she thought was a compliment.

What Ariana thought was a sophisticated show of intelligence was, in fact, a slap in the face. Tom gave her the cute pet name, which referred to her “keeping up with the news and what was going on with the world and our friends.” According to Ariana, “he was the opposite and just not the most aware person so that he would come to me for news and info. I always thought the nickname was a compliment.”

Sadly, after Scandoval broke, Ariana thought further into the label. “In the aftermath of our breakup, he has brought it up in interviews as an example of how I intentionally made him feel dumb. In retrospect, it feels like he was waiting to use it against me.” Wow, can this man pivot or what? It could be the nickname was his way of handling his own issues by creating an inside joke as he secretly bashed her.

Ariana Is Playing the Game

The nickname is highly insulting, as Ariana makes clear, “No woman should dumb herself down for anyone. Own your intelligence and power.” Tom truly believed he would not be caught and was entitled to have an affair because he felt ignored or educationally lacking. Tom chose a nickname Ariana once prided herself on and weaponized it against her.

During a 2020 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Ariana spoke highly of the epithet, sharing, “OK, so he thinks I’m like, super badass. He calls me his information booth. I don’t feel very badass sometimes, so that is really sweet and makes me feel more that way. I just love that he’s always willing to be open and vulnerable with who he is.” Tom wanted a traditional girlfriend who would bow to his every whim. But that was never going to be Ariana, and he hated her for that. At least Ariana is now capitalizing on every time he tries to break her and is making sure she is laughing all the way to the bank.

Tom Used His Relationship Like a Business Transaction

There is no doubt in my mind that for years, Tom has been using his relationship with Ariana as a stepping stone for his business ventures. The nickname and Ariana’s ability to actually speak with their group of friends probably helped Tom put out feelers and gauge where others stood with his singing, bars, and spot on Vanderpump Rules. Ariana was more than an information booth. She was a spy. One month before Scandoval hit the fan, Tom told BravoTV that he loved “how smart Ariana is,” saying, “I often refer to her as my information booth!”

The way Tom would tweak the moniker to fit each different scenario was shameless. Knowing what we know now, it was clear Tom was feeding Ariana lies. It all comes down to the fact that Tom probably felt intimidated by Ariana’s mind and hustle. Instead of teaming up as true partners, he thought of ways to tear her down. And it started with a seemingly cute nickname. Personally, I think Ariana would rather be called “boss” or “goddess” anyway. Tom can save his double entendre for the next Bambi-like beauty queen that comes his way.
