Tom Sandoval Apologizes for ‘Inappropriate and Ignorant’ George Floyd Comparison

If you didn’t think Tom Sandoval could make himself look worse, you would be wrong. After a highly controversial interview with the New York Times, little buddy had to fire up his Notes app and issue an apology.

Prior to publishing an article on Tom’s latest media guffaw, our Reality Tea News Editor reached out to Sandoval’s PR to see if they wanted to add an apology. At the time, PR responded, “He was comparing the scandal to other national news stories that made huge headlines globally. That’s it.”

Welp, needless to say, now they want to roll that back a bit with an actual apology. Here’s what too little too late looks like for Sandoval today.

Sandy had apologize, again, for his lack of critical thinking skills. After an interview was released where he compared Scandoval to the senseless murder of George Floyd, the internet began having its way with Tom. I guess he was all caught up in the moment and felt because George Floyd and OJ Simpson were big media stories, he should align his scandal with people who have suffered loss of life.

I’m not sure I recall people taking to the streets to protest how unfair society was to Tom, but this is an interesting POV of how Tom views himself. Those outside of the reality television world are still largely unfamiliar with Sandoval, unless they have a penchant for pitchy karaoke bands. In any case, after someone helped him with another apology, he posted it on his Instagram Story.

“My intentions behind the comments I made in New York Times Magazine were to explain the level of national media attention my affair received. The comparison was inappropriate and ignorant. I’m incredibly sorry and embarrassed,” Tom or someone paid by Tom wrote. Yeah, the “level of national media attention” his affair received wasn’t even moderately close to someone’s murder.

Maybe he could have gone with another celebrity break-up scandal a la Jen Aniston and Brad Pitt. Even JLo and Ben Affleck might have been more appropriate. But to have such self-importance over a reality show on a basic cable network is, you know, a bit much.

Are there notes of narcissism?

“But I witnessed the O.J. Simpson thing and George Floyd and all these big things, which is really weird to compare this to that, I think, but do you think in a weird way it’s a little bit the same?” No Tom, no it isn’t. And amid his allusions to suicidal ideations and “feeling bad” about himself, Tom opted for a hipster icy dip instead of therapy which might help tackle specific issues.

In all fairness, Sandoval isn’t fully responsible for his moronic word salad – you can also blame his public relations. Allowing your client to conduct an interview of this nature was a complete fail on all levels. And not for nothing, so was the apology.

Vanderpump Rules continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
