The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum is keeping a positive mindset during her cancer journey. Followers have been immensely impressed with Teddi Mellencamp as she navigates the path of recovery. Even though each day gives the star a new challenge, she keeps fans up to date as she recovers.
Teddi Mellencamp explains why she sometimes wears a wig amid cancer battle
On Tuesday, May 6, Teddi revealed a bit more insight about why she sometimes covers her head. After her surgery, the former Bravoleb was left with a shaved head and scars, but she is trying to embrace every look. In a recent Instagram photo, Teddi shared that sometimes she will opt out of wearing a headdress. But in this instance, she spoke to fans while wearing a blonde wig. For the horse lover, there is a “day-to-day decision of wig versus no wig.”
She shared with followers that on “Crying days, I tend to pick the wig. The highs and lows of treatment for stage 4 brain and lung tumors are pretty extreme.” As Teddi always does, she continued to urge followers to “go get your yearly checks. It’s melanoma awareness month. No better time than now to book and remind a friend or loved one.” Her Bravo friends took to the comments to show support. Jackie Goldschneider wrote, “Thank you for reminding everyone to take care of their health. You look beautiful as always.” Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay added, “You are beautiful!” And Dolores Catania commented, “Gorgeous.”
Teddi Mellencamp’s cancer battle has her embracing her emotional moments
Teddi first shared back in February that her melanoma had spread to her lungs and brain. After being rushed to the hospital for severe headaches, she was diagnosed with multiple stage 4 tumors. On May 9th, Teddi was seen out in Los Angeles and walking into Hulu studios. On the same day, Teddi took to her Instagram to share a glammed-up photo of herself. She donned a brunette wig as she posed for a selfie. She asked fans, “What’s everyone doing on Mother’s Day? I am celebrating with kids on Saturday at Wango Tango and relaxing on Sunday. Feeling good today and taking full advantage.”
While attending the Women’s Cancer Research Fund Teddi told The Daily Mail, “This is my first night out since I got out of the hospital. I feel good. I know it feels really devastating right now, but everything – it gets better.” Teddi shared, “If I don’t feel good, I can say, ‘I don’t feel good. I’m not doing it today. Or I can say, ‘You know what? I feel amazing. I’m going to go and kick a little *ss.’ I love that love. I think that’s exciting to be able to do anything I want now, and what is important.”
What’s next for Teddi Mellencamp in her cancer journey?
Teddi still has a long way to go on her journey to recovery. But she is doing her best to look on the bright side of life. In an Instagram post, she shared that her tumors have “significantly shrunk.” She also had faith that her treatment would work. She told followers, “Hopefully I am done and I will be cancer-free.” The mother of three has undergone immunotherapy sessions. And her next big appointment is on June 1. Teddi told the outlet, “Whether it was good news or bad news, we all just try to be there for each other and find special moments that we can have.” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star added, “I know everyone says this, but I have really good kids. Laughter has been a huge part of what makes it so much better.”
Teddi has been embracing her time with her family. She recently posted a cute video of her and daughter, Dove, telling one another, “I love you, my love.” Even though she doesn’t always feel well, Teddi is continuing to put her health first. A post from May 8 showed Teddi looking radiant as she rode her stationary bike. She captioned her post, “Quick 20 min ride bc I can.” There is no doubt that Teddi will continue to fight as her next milestone appointment fast approaches.
