Gia Giudice Should Leave Next Gen NYC for a Different TV Show — Opinion

I have to be honest for a split second. The Real Housewives offspring experiment known as Next Gen NYC is still trying to find its footing. The concept? Interesting. The execution? A little shaky. And right in the middle of it all is Gia Giudice. Real Housewives of New Jersey royalty, daughter of table-flipping icon Teresa Giudice, and arguably the most recognizable name on the cast list. But here’s the tea: Gia isn’t thriving as part of the ensemble. In fact, she might be holding herself back by staying in a format that doesn’t let her shine like she could. We said what we said. Gia has star power, but Next Gen NYC isn’t the show for her.

Gia Giudice isn’t working as part of the Next Gen NYC cast

Bravo fans are known for calling things out. Next Gen NYC isn’t the right platform to spotlight what makes Gia interesting. While the show tries to mirror the drama, wealth, and glamour of the original housewives franchises, it often feels like a group project where only one person is doing the heavy lifting. And that person is not Gia. The rest of the cast is mostly a mix of Bravo offspring and socialites trying to prove they’re more than their last names. They’re fine. But some, like Gia, lack the on-camera presence. And even though Gia has been cultivating it since she was literally in braces, she isn’t winning fans over. She’s been through public family drama, legal chaos, and viral TikToks. She knows how to handle the spotlight.

But on Next Gen NYC, she’s boring and refuses to integrate herself into the group. I was floored when she had the entire group travel out to her mother’s house in New Jersey for a pool party. It’s become apparent that Gia dislikes traveling to the Big Apple, even though the city that never sleeps is a character itself. The chemistry just isn’t there. Also, let’s not pretend the NYC setting makes sense. Gia screams Jersey. She’s loud, loyal, and a little dramatic, but she’s trying to play it cool in the city, and it’s not landing. She doesn’t need to fit into a vibe that isn’t hers. She needs her own. Gia doesn’t bounce off the cast the way she did off her family in Jersey. Her moments on Next Gen NYC are too calculated.

Gia Giudice should lead another TV show

Here’s this writer’s hot take that might not be so hot after all. Gia needs her own show. Not as one of six kids of Bravo stars. Not as a supporting player in a spinoff ensemble. But front and center. We’re talking Giudice: Next Chapter or From Jersey to Justice (she was going to law school, after all). Gia is at a turning point in her life. She’s not just Teresa’s daughter anymore. Gia’s a young woman with a career on the rise, a public platform, and a built-in fan base. She’s juggling school, fame, family, and the occasional clapback on Instagram. That’s a show right there.

Imagine a docuseries format that follows Gia as she navigates law school, manages her family’s legacy, and discovers her own identity. Give her a few close friends, maybe a sister or two, and you’ve got something fresh. Something with actual stakes. A show people would tune in for weekly and tweet about in all caps. And let’s not forget that Gia has been through decades of Bravo drama. She’s seen the good, the bad, and the table-flipping ugly. That kind of experience makes her interesting in a way most reality newbies simply aren’t. She knows how to defend herself and how to keep people invested. She doesn’t need to share the spotlight because she is the spotlight.

Final thoughts on Gia Giudice

Plus, a solo project would finally free her from the expectations of being “Teresa’s daughter” or “the next generation of Housewives.” She could rebrand entirely and build something for herself. A real evolution, not just a continuation. Gia should have never been cast on Next Gen NYC. The show isn’t bad, but it’s not doing her any favors. Instead of fading into the background or pretending this format fits her, Gia should take the leap and headline her own series.

Next Gen NYC airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
