Say what you want about Tamra Judge. Her daughter, Sophia Barney, has her back. The mother of three recently reintroduced her 19-year-old daughter on Real Housewives of Orange County, after she spent years away from the cameras due to the custody arrangement with Tamra’s ex-husband. Now that Sophia has a voice of her own, she’s using it to shut down haters coming after her family. Clearly, she’s her mother’s daughter.
Sophia Barney thinks RHOC viewers bashing mom Tamra Judge is “very parasocial”
Tamra recently sat down with Nick Viall for an episode of The Viall Files. Sophia joined in on the conversation, and she opened up about growing up in the Housewives universe, her upcoming move to New York City, and whether or not she’d be open to joining the cast of Next Gen NYC. When the conversation pivoted to Tamra’s parenting, Sophia quickly came to her mom’s defense.
Of course, RHOC fans know that Tamra is estranged from her other daughter, Sidney Barney. Between that and her son’s problematic comments over the years, Tamra has been bashed for her parenting. However, Sophia knows firsthand that Tamra is a good mom.
“Obviously it makes me upset because they don’t know what the hell they’re talking about,” Sophia admitted. “They know nothing about our life at all, and we were just talking about this.”
She continued, “I think one of my biggest pet peeves is, people are just stupid. They don’t know us. It’s all parasocial, it’s very parasocial. People will think that they know her, and they don’t at all.”
Sophia went on to say that her mom is one of the most “caring, hardworking” women she knows. When the cameras aren’t rolling, Sophia said there’s a lot of love in their household. When you set aside all of the RHOC drama, that’s really all that matters.
“You’re the most hardworking person I know, and I know you care so much, especially about your family,” Sophia told her mom in a heartfelt moment.
“I feel it every day, I know you love me, and I love you so much,” she continued. “People don’t see that. I guess it’s hard because you only see a little blip through TV and whatever, and you can’t really know a person through that. But I love you, you’re very caring, and you work hard.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo. It streams on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
