Season 3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives leveled up. This season spilled so much dirty soda that I am still recovering. Many lingering questions from Season 2 of SLOMW were answered, and new ones were brought to light. And that includes Whitney Leavitt’s status on the show.
During Season 2, viewers saw Whitney desperately trying to mend her relationships with the MomTok members. After leaving MomTok at the end of the first season, Whitney wanted back in. While Mikayla Matthews and Whitney continued to butt heads, Whitney regained her MomTok status.
At that meeting, Demi Engemann was trying to force Taylor Frankie Paul out of MomTok. During Season 2, Demi snatched Whitney’s crown as the villain. However, Demi’s plan failed, and she decided to take a break from the group. And when Season 3 started, Whitney was not in the mix. She allegedly quit MomTok and wasn’t filming. For someone desperate to get in, she didn’t savor her victory. So, why did Whitney decide to resume filming SLOMW?
Whitney Leavitt and Demi Engemann were both on the outs in SLOMW

During the Season 2 SLOMW reunion, Whitney wasn’t happy that host Nick Viall pressed her for answers. She was asked questions about Demi, who didn’t attend, and was accused of not taking accountability for her own actions. When the third season opened, Whitney wasn’t filming, allegedly due to a contract issue.
Meanwhile, Demi was also on the outs with the MomTok ladies because of the drama with her former bestie, Jessi Ngatikaura. Their tight bond fell apart amid Demi telling their friends not to go to Jessi’s salon. Also, Jessi didn’t back up Demi when she tried to oust Taylor. So, their friendship crumbled. According to Mikayla, Demi also wasn’t filming for Season 3.
However, Demi and Whitney remained close friends throughout all this chaos and started to attend influencer events together. The rest of the MomTok members called it an “alliance.” Meanwhile, Whitney resumed filming and attended Miranda McWhorter’s birthday party. As usual with this group, there was a theme: Miranda lookalikes.
Unfortunately, if Whitney and her husband, Conner Leavitt, expected a warm welcome, they were disappointed. Mayci Neeley, Mikayla, and Jessi stood up and walked away when Whitney approached. Still, Whitney had a special reason for resuming filming.
Whitney wanted to audition for Dancing with the Stars

The ladies held a MomTok meeting at Miranda’s home to uncover Whitney’s motives for her mysterious return. Recently, the group was given the opportunity to audition for Dancing with the Stars. Whitney told her friends what her fellow Mormon moms suspected: she wanted a chance to waltz around the ballroom.
“I just found out that if I came back to film, I can audition for Dancing with the Stars,” Whitney explained. As you may recall, Whitney studied dance in college. She graduated with a fine arts degree with an emphasis in dance. So, DWTS was her dream, and she would do whatever it takes to make it happen. And that included filming with MomTok.
After a contentious time at the meeting, Whitney walked out. “But I know two things for sure. One, I’m clearly not welcome in MomTok,” she stated in her confessional. “And two, I’m gonna get Dancing with the Stars. She’s back!” she exclaimed with a laugh.
And Whitney did land DWTS, along with her co-star, Jen Affleck. Whitney and her fan-favorite partner, Mark Ballas, are frontrunners to win the Season 34 Mirrorball. Of course, given her dance background, Whitney’s casting has stirred up some controversy.
Hilariously, some bad blood from Season 3 between Jen and Whitney seemingly carried over to the ballroom. After she was voted off the show, Jen revealed that she wasn’t voting for Whitney. Ouch!
Whitney is all business
During the MomTok meeting at Miranda’s house, Whitney shared her feelings about MomTok. And she didn’t have any warm and fuzzy emotions towards her former friends. “So, then, this is strictly business,” Whitney told the group. She felt that there was no actual sisterhood among the women.
After confessing that she was only filming to nab the DWTS audition, Whitney added, “I’m not coming back to the sisterhood. I’m gonna start my own MomTok.” A shocked Taylor started to laugh before apologizing.
Later, in her confessional, Taylor called Whitney “fame-hungry” and extremely focused on business and success. However, MomTok was originally built amid the bonds of sisterhood and friendship. Naturally, Whitney openly admitting that she only saw her former friends as co-workers seemed harsh. Yet, when she wasn’t accepted back into MomTok with the warmth and fanfare that she wanted, Whitney chose to make lemonade out of lemons.
The damage from Whitney’s Season 1 run as the villain had been done. Plus, the ladies weren’t partial to MomTok members dipping in and out of the group. However, Whitney and Demi soldiered on, often separated from the rest of the saints and sinners during press events. For Whitney, making the most of these business opportunities and riding the wave of MomTok’s success was crucial.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 3 is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+.
