It was no secret that Bravo was planning to spice things up on Real Housewives of Orange County. Vicki Gunvalson was demoted to a part-time role on Season 14, and ultimately
was supposedly fired chose to leave the show when she didn’t regain her full-time status.
But she wasn’t the only long-time RHOC cast member to jump ship. One day after Vicki’s announcement, Tamra Judge told the world that she was ditching the show. Tamra decided not to accept the paltry 3 episode deal she was offered to tie up her storyline. Wait–Tamra had a storyline?
I don’t know about you but as explosive as it was, the last season of Real Housewives of Orange County wasn’t my favorite. There was such a heavy tone between Gina Kirschenheiter’s ongoing split with her ex and then we had to endure Vicki Gunvalson as a friend of. That alone was enough to send me over the edge. Vicki knew it was her last shot, so she really upped the ante and it was painful to watch. All you Vicki stans just say you hate me right now because I’m going to say that Vicki ruined the season. She might have survived the infamous cancer scam of seasons past but with her standing on the show being threatened, it’s like she committed to taking down as many people as possible.
One of her targets? Kelly Dodd. Now I know the train rumor wasn’t all Vicki’s doing. She might have started it but one very sneaky housewife repeated it – Tamra Judge. “Faith, family and fitness” my ass. I’m pretty sure Jesus wouldn’t advocate spreading rumors about a cast mate engaging in an illicit sex act. But Jesus aside, Tamra said it and was happy for anyone else to take the fall for it. When Kelly confronted her on all her deception, Tamra flipped the script and had the audacity to get mad at Kelly for not believing that she was trying to defend her. Spoiler alert: she wasn’t! As far as villains go, it was quite the power move but it wasn’t enough to save her either. After the season aired, it was announced that neither Tamra or Vicki would be back. In other words, they were fired. Cue the author of this story rejoicing!
The upcoming Season 15 of Real Housewives of Orange County is going to be very different. Gone are two of the tres amigas. Last season, the “OG of the OC,” Vicki Gunvalson, was demoted to be a Friend of the Housewives. After having a melt-down during the reunion, she quit after she learned that she would not be getting her orange back. But don’t worry–Vicki is getting her own podcast.
Tamra Judge also walked away after she was only offered three episodes to complete her storyline. That is less than a demotion. Ouch! Now there is only one amiga left–Shannon Beador. And if Shannon returns, it looks like she will be spending a lot of time with Kelly Dodd.
Finally we have reached the end of the line with Real Housewives Of Orange County. It has been a long and confusing season of many Housewives I do not particularly like. Tamra Judge, I am looking at you. Furthermore I am so thankful I will no longer have to type Brauwnyn Windham-Burke‘s exhausting name, as exhausting as the woman herself, every week. Ugh.
Among the many revelations from part 3 of the reunion, we learned that skanky behavior has always been a cornerstone of the show’s foundation and Andy Cohen will not have you argue it any other way. Boobs out, girls!
We open with Vicki Gunvalson accusing Braunwyn of violating the show’s moral compass, causing Vicki to lose 2 clients. I’m sorry, so dating cancer scamming Brooks Ayers meets Vici’s clients “moral compass”? Andy reminds Vicki that she has flashed her tits at the dinner table, given fake blow jobs (in addition to plenty of low blows) and participated in the Naked Wasted episode with Gretchen Rossi, so why the revisionist history??
It’s hard to believe we are at the end of season 14 of the Real Housewives of Orange County. Some highlights of the season for me were getting to know Emily Simpson a little better and Gina Kirschenheiter chasing after a dramatic Tamra Judge in the finale. Plus Kelly Dodd taking no prisoners on the cast trip to Key West–and on Part 1 of the reunion. And dare I say, Vicki Gunvalson’s demotion?
Lowlights include Tamra and Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s make out session, Dr. Deb’s tough love maternal instincts and some of the Tres Amigas’ escapades. Kelly and the Amigas were at odds most of the season over everything from Shannon Beador’s Miraval retreat gonging to the ugly rumors spread about Kelly. Over-the-top retaliation by Kelly, including inserting herself in the Jim Bellino lawsuit fueled the feud. Will the Amigas and Kelly ever find their way back to each other? Shannon recently made it clear that she and Kelly are still on the outs.
Can you believe that we are already at the finale of the Real Housewives of Orange County? The season went by so fast. I can’t say that a lot happened, but for me, the season was a bit better than the last few have been. Which is not a ringing endorsement, but I will call it progress. Thirsty Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s make-out sessions with Tamra Judge are not part of said progress. Emily Simpson’s occasional spot-on snark is.
One of my favorite parts of the season has been seeing Shannon Beador get her groove back. Well, as much as Shannon can groove, anyways. It was great to see her come out on the other side of her bitter divorce emotionally intact and a little happier. On this week’s episode, we saw Shannon out on a date with “Babe,” the man she at met at a bar earlier in the season. Babe is not the only gentleman Shannon was grooving with at the time of filming, however. She also brought a surprise date to Vicki Gunvalson’s engagement party–a real blast from the OC past.
The Real Housewives of Orange County are finally back on their home turf after their raucous trip to Miami and Key West. As per usual, the vacation centered around cast drama and drag-phobic Vicki Gunvalson needing to have an ambulance called. Isn’t this her third emergency room trip on a cast vacation? Maybe Vicki wouldn’t be the best travel partner–for this and a million other reasons.
Kelly Dodd was front and center in all the Floridian drama, with some of her castmates not speaking to her during part of the vacation. She was on the outs with both Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador over comments she had made about the Jim Bellino lawsuit. Kelly had also stirred the pot earlier this season between Shannon and Tamra by telling Shannon some things that Tamra had said about her behind her back. Now, Tamra is trying to flip the script by telling her side of that story, which is probably no surprise to anyone.
Last week’s episode of Real Housewives of Orange County ended with Vicki Gunvalson’s annual vacation tradition: an ambulance trip. She slipped and fell after a fully-clothed drunken swim. Is it even an RHOC cast trip if Vicki isn’t hospitalized at least once?
Meanwhile, Vicki makes additional moves to secure screen time during tonight’s new episode. She hands out hats with descriptions to each of the girls. Hers says “Engaged AF,” of course. Shannon Beador’s says “Single AF.” Tamra Judge gets a hat that reads “Married AF.” And then Vicki gives Kelly Dodd a hat that says “Krazy AF,” which Vicki didn’t find offensive since she spelled the word “crazy” with a “k” instead of a “c.” Meanwhile, Kelly (and the viewers) see that this is another attempt to rile Kelly up and get her to flip out.
