In all honesty, that Tipsy Girl vs. Skinnygirl fight was painful to witness during the last Real Housewives of New York season. It was just a way bigger deal than I ever expected it to be and I still find it a little weird that Bethenny Frankel somehow felt threatened by Sonja Morgan’s business attempt. There is room for all of the Real Housewives to market their own liquor brands, so I don’t get how Bethenny could be upset with Sonja for trying to do the same. Sonja is trying to open a Tipsy Girl restaurant, which obviously did not work out, and now Bethenny is getting blamed?
That makes no sense to me. Yes, Bethenny is a super successful liquor mogul, but there is no way that she has that much power. Come on. As much as I love and root for Sonja, we all know that restaurant was never ever going to come to fruition. It just seems like Bethenny is a scapegoat to me.
Sonja Morgan has had a difficult season of Real Housewives Of New York. She’s struggled with friendships failing, accusations about her drinking, business endeavors, and the blow-up of Luann and Tom in her face, but she won’t let it get her down – after all: while the other girls drown in their misery, Sonja will continue being the sexy J that stirs the drink!
Yet, Sonja admits she’s “disappointed with the girls. I think they need to get their own lives instead of looking at mine. They’re very self-serving.”
The ladies of Real Housewives Of New York are at war over getting onTom D’Agostino‘s jock (exactly how many millions is he packing?!). Tom happens to be the current fiancé of Luann de Lesseps, once dated Ramona Singer (two or three times, or seven – depending on who you ask), and possibly spent the last decade playing undercover friends with benefits with Sonja Morgan. It seems Bethenny, who created her $100 million Skinnygirl low-calorie cocktail line will have some unwelcome competition from Sonja, who has her Tipsy Girl booze line practically ready to roll.
The caflama-filled situation involving the two women has now spilled over from real life to the small screen. It seems Bethenny has arranged a Mexico trip and the adventure will, of course, be fodder for the Bravo reality series. However, Sonja is reportedly fretting that her invite for the trip will mysteriously get lost in the mail. And the invite just might never reach Sonja’s hands.
Last month Sonja Morgan unveiled Tipsy Girl, a new prosecco she is promoting. It was widely predicted that Bethenny Frankel wouldn’t be too happy about the name given that Tipsy Girl sounds remarkably similar to Bethenny’s infamous Skinnygirl line. Now the two former frienemies are locked in a trademark dispute via their business entities.
Sonja’s business partner, Peter Guimares, dismissed the name similarities and argued that he had trademarked “Tipsy Girl” (two words) months earlier. At the time, Bethenny had no comment on her Real Housewives Of New York co-star’s tipsy business venture, but instead made a move to trademark the name “Tipsygirl” (one word!).
