Bravo’s reality shows are usually a hit or miss. NYC Prep is a perfect example of a miss, while their latest reality show, Miami Social is a hit.
Miami Social is my latest guilty pleasure. It was one of those shows I didn’t plan on watching or writing about, until I watched it, and realized I sorta loved it. This post will contain some spoilers of what is to come this season so do not read any further if you do not want to know what happens.
The biggest shocker of all is news that Hardy Hill is now married to someone who is not Trixia, his girlfriend of 6 years on the show. Hardi is married to a woman name Pachi Lake. I’m not certain how long ago this show was taped but he sure moves quickly. Hardi and Pachi have their facebook relationship statuses as being married to each other. A photo of the married couple is below.
In other news, it seems George’s “crazy” girlfriend, Lina Fidler is no longer pregnant. She looked very non pregnant at last month’s premier. Either she had the baby or decided not to have the baby. I’m leaning towards the later, not sure if the world was ready for a Lina mini me. I suspect George has some serious self esteem issues, for him to think he doesn’t deserve better than that. But then again, he probably just loves the drama. Some people get off on that.
It doesn’t seem Katrina and Ben Moss have reconciled their marriage. I know most fans, including me, would like to see them back together but I simply don’t see that happening. On the outside, they might seem like the picture perfect couple, but at the end of the day, no one knows what went on behind their closed doors. I admire Katrina’s entrepreneurship skills, and being a self proclaimed workaholic myself, I can see where she’s coming from. I however highly doubt I would ever put work before my loved ones. I love the quote someone said on the show – “No one ever lays on their death bed wishing they had spent more time working.” Enough said. I get the feeling Ben will have no problem picking up the pieces.
There are a lot of funny ramblings about Lina’s profession. Most people suspecting she might be some sort of escort. I honestly have no idea, but would not be surprised. It would actually make a lot of sense.

I had no intention of watching either but I got totally sucked in somehow, too! I was hoping Lina would be out of the picture soon, but I guess she makes for interesting TV with poor George.

To my way of thinking, ‘NYC Prep’ is the hit and ‘Miami Social’ sucks.
I was drawn into ‘NYC’ from the very beginning. I care what happens to Taylor, PC, Sebastian, Kelli, Jessie, and Camille. There is a sense of intelligence behind this reality show.
Whereas, I don’t find a single cast member on ‘Miami’ likable. And I’ve given this series more than a chance each week it’s been on. I’ve never managed to force myself to make it through an entire dreary episode. I’ve even recorded each episode and tried to watch it at my own convenience, but with no success.
There’s a good way and a bad way to dislike cast members of a reality show. The good way keeps you coming back to see what the ‘black hats’ will do next. The bad way of disliking these momentary TV stars is to just not to give a flip about them one way or another. First, most of their personalities are so bland that I can’t recall a single name. The prissy gay guy is such a whiner and he’s just plain rude and mean. The only woman to kind of stand out is the blonde with the Russian accent, but I don’t care what happens to her either. Her boyfriend might as well be wallpaper.
On the other hand, ‘NYC Prep’ is the only series on TV now that I actually look forward to seeing each week. Whereas the Miami group is jaded and bored, thus boring, the New York preppies are on the brink of adulthood and every decision they face seems life altering, thus exciting. And believe me, when I first saw the previews for ‘NYC Prep’, I didn’t think there was a chance in hell I’d care about what was happening in the lives of some very selfish nouveau-rich teenagers. Yet I was hooked after the introductory show.
So, according to the ratings and some of the critics, ‘Miami Social’ might be a hit, but that certainly doesn’t make ‘NYC Prep’ a miss in my book. If one has to go and one gets to stay, I hope New York’s star rises while Miami’s sun sets.
OOPS! I just watched tonight’s episode of ‘Miami Social’ and I think that I accidentally learned their names. Is it drawing me in against my will? This wasn’t suppose to happen. This is totally against my will. Help me! HELP!!!

i live on south beach since i am a miami native – and know some of the cast members personally “unfortunately” – they should have called this show miami losers! lina is a known prostitute on the beach – and michael rents his apartment/car/life while maria sleeps with everything and everyone…. all fools

Bravo! promotes this show as if we are going to get a peek into the secret lives of high society on South Beach. If THIS is high society in Miami, then damn is it nauseating. These people aren’t decadent, witty, brash or engaging. They are incredibly dull. Everything is so forced. The laughter, the “friendships”, the drama. And what’s up with these tiny little apartments these people live in? I thought this was supposed to be upper-crust, money to burn socialites?
Hardy’s new chick is nice and plastic. GOD is she unattractive. All the plastic in the world isn’t going to save that average face. Trixie wasn’t any better, she looked about 50. Hardy looks like holy hell and really needs to lay off the tanning bed. The rest are irrelevant, though special mention needs to be reserved for Maria is is interesting but only to Maria herself. Katrina really needs to dress that body better because her head looks as big as her rack.
Bravo, you really missed the mark with this snails pace of a show. It’s just god-awful.
And Ben…RUN for your life!
wow. i agree. i got into this show. fun. i can’t believe that’s a bombshell he married someone else. well, this girl in the pic is quite hot, but that’s sad. his girlfriend seemed very nice. that’s dish to show he married someone else. i wonder how long ago that was taped? i hope george and lina aren’t together. what a psycho.
I personally enjoyed watching this show. And I especially enjoyed watching Hardy. I was immediately drawn to his looks, personality, and charm. To me Hardy didn’t come across as snobby, elite, narcissistic, or fake like a few of the other cast members. It’s funny how some people with money lack warmth and are the least liked. Why is that? I thought the show was a refreshing take on people in their 30’s, but for once, can Bravo show real life people who aren’t driving expensive cars, wearing designer clothes, that don’t live in over priced homes?

I don’t think that Hardy is in his “30’s” anymore. When he was on Big Brother in the summer of 2001, he was 31 so if he is still in his 30’s….it’s just barely. As for the rest of them, I doubt Maria, Ariel or Michael are in their 30’s. I know Katrina is only 29, so the age differences is vast amongst the cast.
I have to say that I think George has some self esteem issues to stay put with Lina. One would have to!! Kind of like the battered wife who stays with the abusive man. And oh yeah, she is abusive, with her cutting up his jeans, putting holes in the walls, calling him d**k etc. I don’t know if George has issue with his facial ticks (if that is at heart of esteem issue, he needs to come to grips emotionally with it. It looks to me like it’s very mild Tourette’s) because he doesn’t deserve to be treated like that… period! He is way too intelligent, too good looking, and probably a helluva catch to put up with it. Just my observation and opinion. I love love love the show.

I knew at the end that Hardy wouldn’t marry trixie or whatever her name is. Couldn’t you all figure that out? hepanicked and realized she wasn’t that hot. he probably was better in pa, now he’s all about the hotness factor. he’s a playboy, and trixie’s talk about marriage and babies was too much for him. too bad she didn’t get help, but she should be happy he’s gone. he thought he was too hot for her (and he kind of was)….george weirdly is the one with feelings…i am so sick of the stupid freak russian accent. …why do these freaks like lina and maria dye their hair and think they’re hot? they sound sick and weird….

wow did this show suck… but I watched becuase I have no life. The only one with class is Katrina . Hardy is hot and could do better that both girls (the ex and the new one) they both look too old for him and seem insecure. Lina and George should not be together. Ariel is a super queen and seems like a horrible insecure person. The chick with the huge tatas should focus on her kid and send her to boarding school. the balding guy is actually real, I do like him aswell. Sora is sweet and boring.
I thought like everyone else this show would suck…I have to admit it was kind of entertaining. Here are a couple of things I thought stood out in the show:

I think Michael is adoRable, would be a great friend, he’s hilarious, love his voice! You can go online and check the courts there is no marriage liceanse for them. He tried to get married to her many times but she refused. If I’m not mistaken she’s currently dating some nobody.
