Eileen confronts Dorit again

Eileen Davidson Doesn’t Mind Being Judged But Admits Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Is A Challenge

Eileen Davidson had a rough time on last season’s Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, and it seems like she may be headed for another tough season, however the long-time soap opera star has no plans to pretend to be someone she’s not in order to win over the viewers.

“I just try to be myself. Sometimes I take the high road, sometimes I don’t,” explains Eileen. “People judge you no matter what. I’ve heard it all.” Similarly, Eileen defends her longtime friend and fellow Housewife, stating, “Lisa Rinna is who she is.” That she is – hustle to hustle…

“The thing that makes this reality gig so hard is that you are constantly voicing thoughts you’d normally let slide or keep private,” continues Eileen. “Like, I might say to my husband, ‘Boy, she was a real a–hole!’ But now I’m on TV going, ‘You’re an a–hole!'[laughs]”

She discounts that producer manipulation plays into the ladies behaviors, although admits that the storylines are decided by the Housewives. “Every season morphs and changes but, I assure you, nothing is scripted,” describes Eileen. “Lots of things happen and lots of things are said but that’s what the producers chose to focus on. It’s a show. They focus on what they feel will be the most interesting, titillating, controversial thing.”

“They might say, ‘You really need to talk about such-and-such tonight. We need to try to get some resolution,'” she tells TV Insider. “That’s about the only real note that we get.”

Eileen adds that the Housewives decide how much of their lives they want to show – that is unless someone else outs them! For instance it was her decision to open up about the deaths in her family.

“It wasn’t easy but it’s what’s happening in my life and I’m not going to pretend it isn’t,” Eileen admits. “On one hand I was embarrassed to share all of that with the world but, on the other hand, it wouldn’t be authentic to hide it and make it look like everything is fine.”

Despite how viewers feel about her, to Eileen it is her family’s perception that matters most. “I am constantly taking the temperature in the family, making sure everyone is still feeling good about it. Trust me, if the response was negative, you and I would be having a very different conversation right now!”

“I don’t even live in Beverly Hills. We live a normal, quiet life in Malibu and even there I’m small potatoes. Nobody cares what shows I’m on. But the feedback to my being on RHOBH has been very positive and, so far, it all seems to be okay.”

As for whether or not she’ll be back next season, Eileen is optimistic. “Why not?” she shrugs. “People judge you no matter what. I’ve heard it all. ‘You shouldn’t be doing a soap opera.’ ‘You shouldn’t be doing reality TV.’ Everybody has an opinion but, as time marches on, I’m still standing. [Laughs] And there’s a lot to be said for that.”

Speaking of return, it seems Erika Girardi will be making another guest appearance on The Young & The Restless. “I’ve made a phone call to say, ‘Let’s get her back on!'” dishes Eileen. “She was terrific.”
