Sonja listed her debt at $19.8 million with over $13.5 million in assets on the bankruptcy petition. “The decision to seek bankruptcy relief was not an easy one, but unfortunately, I am at a crossroads in my life,” said Sonja in the court papers.
But perhaps this situation is a bit different than that of NJ Housewife Teresa Giudice as Sonja blames her financial troubles on a failed business venture, an unresolved bitter divorce with her ex-husband, and also losing a major lawsuit.
Sonja states in the court papers that her production company, Sonja Productions, was all set to collaborate with Hannibal Pictures Inc. to make a movie starring John Travolta. However, things went awry due to various demands by Travolta which her production company could not meet. Hannibal Pictures then filed a lawsuit against Sonja Productions and won a $7 million judgment.
Sonja is reportedly planning to appeal the ruling. Also, the reason Sonja’s filing is a tad shocking all has to do with her last name, as Sonja used to be married to and has a daughter by John Adams Morgan, a descendant of J.P. Morgan and John Adams. Sonja blames her “bitter” and unresolved divorce from her husband as part of the reason she is broke. Apparently their divorce is yet to be finalized.
According to WSJ, Sonja is working to resolve these disputes and formulate a plan of reorganization. She also hopes to preserve the value of her assets and continue her career as a television personality.

In an interview with Black Voices, the 38-year-old Atlanta entertainment attorney discusses her snobby portrayal on the show, clears up her statement about her husband Apollo Nida committing a white collar crime, opens up about her new baby boy, and defends her “boughetto” baby shower. Excerpts from Phaedra’s interview below -
BV: What was your impression of the show and ladies before joining?
PP: I wasn’t a huge fan of the show. I didn’t watch the show faithfully and I was familiar with most of the people on the show just from being in Atlanta and frequenting some of the same shopping districts. So, I knew them all, but didn’t have a close relationship with any of them besides Kandi [Burruss] who I hung out with and we travel in a lot of the same circles
BV: Speaking of not always being portrayed in a positive light, how do you feel about your portrayal since the first few episodes of ‘Housewives’ have aired?
PP: I think because my background is different from some of the other ladies, you have to make a distinction and sometimes how they distinguish me is not really who I am. If you meet me , I’m probably the most humble down-to-earth person mentoring young girls and on the show you don’t see that part of my character. I think I’m portrayed as a snob and I’ve never been a snob, but at the end of the day people have to realize you’re only seeing 15 minutes of me on the screen and I’ve lived over 30 years. You can’t sum up a person’s character in a matter of 15 to 17 minutes one night a week.
BV: Nene Leakes said [Apollo] went to jail for stealing cars. Is that really a white collar crime?
PP: He didn’t go to jail for stealing cars. He went to jail for racketeering. It’s easy to say what he went to jail for when you aren’t educating yourself and reading the case. And, I don’t know if she’s qualified to make a statement about anything unless she is a legally educated [person] and can read the case and cite to the actual case.
BV: How is the baby and parenting going?
PP: I never knew I could be so happy but I’m crazy about him. He’s very, mild mannered and developing his personality. He’s very independent and so I’m assuming he’s taking after both of his parents. He is not a cry baby. He’s real quiet.
BV: What’s going on with the compromising with Apollo in terms of your parenting techniques?
PP: We are great parents and things changed once the baby was born and once the baby is here you see it’s a huge responsibility. You’ve got this person you’re responsible for he’s a blessing, but you know I’m going to be accountable for his upbringing so it’s very important for me to know I’m making a leader and this world is waiting for another Martin Luther King, Jr. or Obama and that’s what I’m trying to instill in my child.
BV: Didn’t one of the ladies describe the [baby shower] as ‘boughetto?’
PP: Ha! (laughs) That was Kandi. I think she thought the rhinestones on my eyes was ghetto but the event was very elegant event at The Tavern at Piedmont Park and I had about 175 guests. Lots of judges and lawyers and dignitaries and it was a nice event. I like to invite people from all walks of life so I had a Hodgepodge of people there.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON PHAEDRA’S INTERVIEW? DO YOU THINK SHE’S A SNOB?
TMZ broke the news late yesterday that NFL starChad Ochocinco, 32, and VH1 reality star Evelyn Lozada, 34, are officially engaged after 4 months of dating.
According to TMZ, Chad, who appeared on the last season of Dancing With The Starsand had his own VH1 dating show, popped the question to Evelyn yesterday in Cincinnati with a 10-carat engagement ring. Evelyn reportedly flew in to see him from Miami.
The Basketball Wives star wasted no time in sharing the good news with her twitter followers. She tweeted a photo of the super blinged engagement ring with the caption – “I’m no rabbit but 10 carats looks good on me!! Let the hating begin.” A photo of the ring is below.
Some are wondering if this the real deal or just a publicity stunt as the second season of Basketball Wives (you can watch the Season 2 trailer here!) is set to premiere in just weeks on December 12. Only time will tell. TMZ does add that the couple plans to be engaged for a while.
Here’s to hoping the 2nd time will be the charm for Eve as her last engagement to former NBA player Antoine Walker ended after 10 years with no walk down the aisle.
This engagement also came as a surprise as Chad was supposed to be dating Rubi Pazmino, you know, the winner of his VH1 dating show Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch. The show’s finale aired back in September and in her VH1 interview following the finale, Rubi stated she and Chad were indeed together and that Chad told her the rumors that he was dating Evelyn were false. “He said Evelyn’s a friend of his,” stated Rubi two months ago.
Well fast forward to today and it’s all but obvious Chad and Evelyn were more than just friends. We reached out to Rubi following the engagement news and she exclusively told Reality Tea that Chad was lying as he was indeed two-timing both she and Evelyn.
Even more shocking, Rubi revealed to us that she and Evelyn spoke about it, and that there were even many other women in the picture. And when it comes to the engagement, Rubi stated she has no clue about it, adding “maybe he has changed.”
Rubi also states on her twitter page that she will likely sell the promise ring Chad gave her on ebay. Guess Evelyn won the “prize” in this situation.

Marty Piombo, 48, a technology executive from Mill Valley, California, found himself the latest outcast to be eliminated on the last episode of Survivor: Nicaragua.
In a new interview with PEOPLE, Marty discusses why he never teamed up with Jane, his thoughts on Brenda and Sash‘s decision to vote him out, and whether or not he regrets being so outspoken.
Excerpts from Marty’s interview below -
Jane often said you didn’t give her the time of day. True? And if so, why not?
She says I never tried to work with her, which is simply not true. I made an attempt in the beginning to get to know her, but it was clear we were not going to mesh. She came up to me within the first few minutes of the game and said, “My husband died, I really need the money so please don’t vote me off.” I have suffered more hardships and loss in my life than her and Chase combined, but I would never have used it like that to try to get leverage. That conversation really soured me on her. And I wanted to play the game with strong, honest, smart, good people. That’s why I got along with Jill so well. And even Danny because he tries his hardest despite physical limitations and I knew I could trust him.
What one move or event contributed most to your downfall?
The tribal switch 100 percent. Jill and I were chosen solely for the purpose of elimination. We were not chosen with swing votes in mind or for what we would add to the team. From that switch on, it was an uphill battle for me and I felt I did a pretty good job lasting as long as I did. I had a decent chance of convincing them to side with me last night and a good shot at final five.
Did you believe you had changed Sash and Brenda’s vote to flush the idol and get Jane out?
I packed my bags because it was a little less than 50-50 that my plan would work. I was asking them to switch up their whole team and plan with that vote, so it was a long shot, but stranger things have happened. You can tell what I was saying was getting to them. Like the way Sash’s head moved right after my torch was snuffed.
Did you ever think, Maybe I should shut up, step back and stop playing so hard?
This is who I am. I couldn’t have played the game any differently than I did because of that. I was never going to be the guy who floated under the radar, didn’t make bold moves or didn’t strategize. Everyone says I talked too much at tribal but that’s the only time when you can air everything out to everyone all at once. I tried to use it to my advantage. When I went off on Jane and tried to explain why she was such a huge threat to take to the end, I started to make people realize that.
Anything you regret?
Not working with Holly more. In the beginning, she did a lot of things that everyone saw that made me write her off because she seemed unstable and not long for the game, like siding with Wendy Jo or taking Danny’s shoes. But she pulled it together and proved to be a smarter player and an honest trustworthy person. I wish I’d spent more time working on building a relationship with her.
On tonight’s episode, airing at 8/7c on CBS, the 10 remaining castaways return to the Libertad camp only to discover that it is in ashes because of a fire. Was the camp fire a deliberate sabotage or careless error? Who will join Alina and Marty as the third member of the jury? Find out tonight.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON MARTY’S INTERVIEW AND TONIGHT’S EPISODE OF SURVIVOR?
Despite being in the top 2 for most of the season, singer Brandy, 31, and her dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiyfell short last night as they were eliminated from the dance competition just a week before the finals. Elimination is based on both judges scores and viewer votes.
Just how shocking was Brandy’s elimination? Well for one, you could hear a collective gasp as well as some loud boos coming from the audience. Even Bristol Palin, who advanced to the finals despite receiving the lowest scores for 7 straight weeks, looked stunned following the announcement that she was safe.
“I don’t know how to feel right now. It hasn’t processed yet for me,” said a visibly stunned and emotional Brandy right after hearing the news.
“I am numb,” Brandy told UsWeekly after the show. “I mean, I gave it everything I had. And I don’t have any regrets at all. I’m so proud of me, and I say that humbly.”
As for Maks, he seemed to take the news better, perhaps being that he is used to the routine by now. “The fact that people vote and their voices count. I love the fact that this show represents that, represents the people’s choice,” he said.
However, the next comment Maks made now has some people wondering if this will be his last season on DWTS. “I don’t regret a second of the last five years of my being on the show and definitely not a second of me being on this season. It’s been an amazing journey.”
Thoughts – While Bristol has vastly improved through the season, no one can argue that Brandy deserved to be in the finals much more than Bristol. I ask again, why is Bristol even on the show? What exactly is her accomplishment? I honestly feel bad for Bristol as she shouldn’t even be on the show to begin with. She is not a “star,” not even a reality star. And now, she is simply being used as a pawn in a dance contest that has turned political.
People are obviously voting for her to make a statement. Let’s face it, while she seems like a nice girl, she doesn’t have the charm, personality or charisma of Kyle Massey, who has won the hearts of viewers. Plus with the exception of the last 2 weeks, Bristol seemed all but over the show. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Bristol won as that would definitely make the ultimate “statement.”

In a new interview with E! Online, Kyle referred to last week’s episode as “very emotional.” She added, “It’s very stressful to watch yourself in these situations where you’re fighting with somebody. That was a very hard night. What happened between Camille and I was very unfortunate.”
So have the two ladies made up since the infamous NYC trip? “We’re not BFFs,” Kyle shared, adding that their attempts to patch things up between them had only made matters worse.
And when it comes to speculation about Camille’s relationship with her “good friend” Nick, Kyle attempts to take the high road by simply stating, “She can do whatever she wants. That’s fine by me.”
Also in reading the ladies’ Bravo blogs this week, it seems Camille is attempting to clean things up by stating that hubby Kelsey Grammer was the one who was more concerned about the “small” size of their NYC apartment. Camille claims she misspoke and that the actual square footage of the apartment was 2000 sq ft, and not 3500 like she had said. She added that Kelsey had become more distant and less interested in her NYC trip in the weeks leading up to the visit.
Camille also wrote about the conversation she had with her cancer stricken mother at the nail shop, you know, the one in which her mom is talking about her illness, and Camille cuts her off to discuss her own hectic lifestyle which included her trip to Hawaii, flying too much, and getting her kids ready for the NYC trip. In her blog, Camille claims the reason she changed the subject was because her mom seemed to be uncomfortable talking about her illness on camera.

We are coming close to the end of the 5th season of Oxygen’s Bad Girls Club Miami.
Airing tonight will be part 1 of the two part reunion being once again hosted by blogger Perez Hilton. So what can we expect in tonight’s reunion show? Well apparently a lot of craziness and more fighting based on the preview clip below. The reunion airs tonight at 9/8C.
Season Recap - This season of BGC has definitely been a strange one to say the least. Out of the 7 original cast members pictured above, only 2 made it to the end. This season has been filled with nothing but fighting, with girls that seemed more psychotic than bad. While I understand Oxygen had a tough task in trying to top the over-the-top season 4 with Natalie Nunn, it seems they might have tried too hard with the season 5 girls. Below are my thoughts on this season and cast -
Major Rules – This season introduced something new and completely made up by the girls, which is they simply decide they do not like a castmate, hence throwing out all their items (while the castmate is not present by the way) as a means of trying to kick them out of the house. This new tactic was not only annoying but also cowardly. It worked and resulted in Morgan having to leave the house after only one episode. Love her or hate her, I do believe the loss of Morgan would have been equivalent to losing Natalie last season after only one episode. Morgan was simply a good character for the show and unfortunately we never got to see her character develop. Here’s to hoping the producers will step in next season and put an end to this moronic act.
No One To Like - Another trend this season seemed to be that there was really no one to root for, no one to like with the exception of maybe one person.
Brandi – Was insane and all bark. How annoying were her temper tantrums? Throwing things like a 2nd grader? Really Brandi? And I won’t even mention calling up her sugar daddies and not being able to get a mere $100 out of them. Pathetic.
Erica - A punk who only seemed to find her voice and attitude in her interviews. Also a major follower.
Lea – Is a follower and my least favorite for the complete 180 she did during the season by becoming Kristen’s mini me. Plus anyone notice how Lea stayed in the background with Cat around?
Kristen – Was annoying but upfront and for some reason allowed to rule the house.
Kayleigh – Why was she on the show again?
Danielle – Was tolerable but always looked dirty for some unknown reasons.
Catya and Morgan - Were tolerable and I would have liked to see them hang till the end.
Ashley – is the absolute worst, a follower, a fake, a phony, a liar and a complete waste.
Christina – the absolute best, she stood up for herself and unfortunately got jumped by the cowards and followers for being her own person.
Latest – As reported, Catya is currently in a Philly jail awaiting her court date as she was arrested in a major drug bust. Philadelphia cops found her in possession of cocaine, mushrooms, ecstasy and a gun. Her bail was set at $500,000 but as you know she only needs 10% to make bail. According to TMZ, her family and friends have been able to raise $20,000 for her through online donations. Catya will however be on the reunion part 2 as it was taped back in September.
Lea and Kayleigh are now living together in LA. Erica is still with her boyfriend Adriane as the two are shopping around their sex tape. Also it seems Brandi and Lea are friends once again.
TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE RECAP, THIS SEASON IN GENERAL? WHO WAS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE BAD GIRL? THOUGHTS ON THE REUNION TONIGHT?
Days after we reported the news of Teresa Giudice and hubby Joe Giudice having to stand trial for bankruptcy fraud in July, 2011, their attorney is now speaking out on their behalf.
James Kridel, attorney for the Real Housewives of New Jersey stars, will have to prove to the bankruptcy court come 2011 that his clients’ bankruptcy filing is indeed legit and should not be overturned. Roberta DeAngelis, the attorney in the U.S. Trustees Office who evaluated the Giudices’ filing, has recommended that the court not grant their Chapter 7 petition due to fraud. DeAngelis accused the Giudices of concealing assets, hiding income, providing false information to the IRS, etc.
Kridel’s strategy seems to be to avoid the trial all together. “I am going to be sending a letter to the US Trustees Office because I would like to resolve with them their issue rather than have to try it,” Kridel told RadarOnline.
Kridel however claims he isn’t doing this out of fear of losing the case or desperation. “I’m not doing it out of desperation; I’m doing it in their [debtors and US Trustees] best interest. That’s the next step. But ultimately the ball is in their court.”
Kridel also adds that he will argue that his clients “have been punished enough.” Kridel stated, “Instead of just looking at it as ‘Joe Giudice,’ it is a family and to deny a discharge in this case would destroy this family. Some of the family members are clearly not responsible for anything that occurred here.”
Good luck with that Kridel. In other NJ news, RadarOnline is also reporting that Caroline Manzo’s sons – Albie and Chris Manzo – have officially moved out of their mama bear’s cave and into their own bachelor pad!
“The guys decided to get their own place because they are young and good looking and famous,” a source close to the family told Radar. “They get a lot of attention from women. They are growing up and they need their privacy.”
The source adds that Caroline is however having a hard time adjusting to her new empty nest. “Their mom is really sad because she is really close to her sons,” added the insider.
