16 and Pregnant Finale Recap: Drugs, Abuse, and a Pregnant Teen

It’s the ninety minute finale of 16 and Pregnant, and of course, MTV saved the worst for last. Tragic. This episode follows Allie Mendoza, a sixteen year old senior in Pasadena, Texas, who is having a baby boy with her boyfriend Joey Aranzeta. Joey is two years younger, and is the one person who makes Texas bearable for Allie. She moved to Texas with her dad from New Jersey, and she very much misses her mom. Shocker! She found out she was pregnant after just two to three months of dating (I feel like I was in high school in the Stone Ages…do teens now just start having sex the minute they start dating?), and Double Shocker! She’s, “um, on the Pill” but missed a couple of days.

Allie reveals that she had to move out of her dad’s house when she got pregnant, so of course, she moves right in with her boyfriend’s parents. Joey’s mom Yolanda admits that she met Allie once, and the next time she saw her son’s girlfriend, she was pregnant. Allie is uncomfortable staying there, and that is compounded by the fact that Yolanda struggles with drug abuse. The couple wishes they could live with Joey’s grandmother Belen, but space is an issue. Of course, the grandmother even states that Yolanda doesn’t know how to be a mom, and there are more revelations about what life is like in the House of Yolanda. Late night visitors, screaming matches, and a basically unsafe (according to Yolanda’s son Joey) environment. Yoland’a mother Belen hosts a family meeting which basically becomes a round table for bashing Allie’s father for kicking her out for getting pregnant.

16 and Pregnant Recap: Fourteen and Pregnant…

On Tuesday’s episode of 16 and Pregnant, we meet Taylor Lumas from Cincinnati, Ohio. Taylor became pregnant at fourteen by her boyfriend of a year older, track star Nathan Bridewell. The couple met at a roller skating party. Taylor lives with her mother Debi and really doesn’t have much of a relationship with her father. Her older sister Jeana lives down the street with her family. Also down the block? Nathan…and it’s a good thing too, since neither teen is old enough to drive yet.

Taylor talks to her friend about how nervous she was to tell her mother about her pregnancy. She tells her friend she considered using food coloring on tampons so her mother would think she was still having her period. Nothing screams maturity and readiness for parenthood like using kitchen fixings to hide a pregnancy. At seventeen, Taylor’s mom gave up a baby for adoption before giving birth to Taylor, and she is hoping her daughter also chooses that path. The young couple is having a girl and are totally opposed to adoption.

16 and Pregnant Recap: Is Adoption an Option?

Kianna Randall is the seventeen-year-old rising high school senior highlighted in this week’s episode of 16 and Pregnant. She lives in Fort Worth, Texas, and her boyfriend of two months, Zak Hegab, lives thirty minutes away and attends a different high school. Both Kianna and Zak grew up without their fathers, and they are viewing this baby in light of that…but with very different opinions.

The daughter of a teen mom, Kianna is intelligent and well-spoken. She wants to go to college and become a veterinarian. We learn her mother Rachel was very open with Kianna in hopes of not having her daughter in the same position she was in during high school. Kianna admits that she got pregnant after forgetting to take her birth control pill for three days. Kianna reveals that she briefly considered abortion, but is now contemplating adoption, so that her baby can have the life she will be unable to give him…and she will be able to have the life she planned for herself. The couple is having a boy.

16 and Pregnant Recap: Surprise! Izabella’s Eight Months Pregnant

Tuesday’s 16 and Pregnant introduces us to Izabella Tovar and her boyfriend Jairo Rodriguez from Draper, Utah. Izabella lives at home with very supportive parents and is a rising sophomore at a local Catholic school. She has spent the summer hanging out with Jairo, her boyfriend of three months and avoiding her friends, as she is trying to keep her pregnancy a secret. The couple is expecting a boy in September.

At seven and a half months, Izabella goes to visit her best friend Cassidy, and her bump reveals why she’s there before she even needs to say a word. Cassidy admits that she had heard rumors of her friend’s pregnancy but was waiting to hear it from her. Cassidy promises to help Izabella maintain her studies. Her parents take a cue from Izabella and Cassidy and decide to spill the beans to the rest of the family. Her uncle paints a pretty harsh, yet spot-on, description of what likely lies ahead for the young couple.

16 and Pregnant Recap: Kayla Battles Teen Pregnancy, Anorexia, and Mom Deb Downer

This week’s episode of 16 and Pregnant was a special ninety minute installment which tackles both teen pregnancy and eating disorders by following Winthrop, Minnesota’s Kayla Jackson and her boyfriend Mike Schwing.

A pregnant junior, Kayla is a student athlete who was hospitalized for anorexia at age thirteen. She moves from the hustle and bustle of her father and step-mother’s home to live with her mom, who (of course) allows Mike to move in with her daughter. Mike is sweet and beyond helpful, but he is barely a supporting cast member in this play, which resolves around Kayla’s body insecurities and broken relationship with her mother.

The couple was not using birth control when they got pregnant (cue more PSAs, please, MTV), and Mike has given up on college to work part-time to raise money for his growing family. Kayla’s mom Deb (who gave birth to Kayla as a teen) promises to help as well, but she spends the majority of her time with her own boyfriend.

16 and Pregnant Recap: Worlds Apart, Across the Street

Tuesday’s installment of 16 and Pregnant introduces us to seventeen-year-old Cleondra Carter and her boyfriend Mario Escovedo. The couple welcomes daughter Kylee, and though their fighting makes them feel miles apart, they actually live right across the street from one another in Horn Lake, Mississippi.

A senior who planned to study physical therapy in college, Cleondra is a good student and a former member of her high school’s nationally recognized dance team. She lives in crowded house with her mom, her mom’s boyfriend, her siblings, and toddler Zyra, who her older sister Zerica gave birth to when she was seventeen. Cleondra’s mom Dixie is disappointed as she was open with Cleondra on the subject of birth control and made sure she had condoms. Dixie also reveals that Cleondra considered abortion.

Mario gave up on his plan to join the Army when he found out his girlfriend was pregnant, and Cleondra reveals he feels a great deal of guilt about getting her pregnant. He has taken a full-time job at local tire shop and is fixing up his home in hopes the new family can live there after the baby is born. While Cleondra recognizes that Mario gets stressed out by the chaos of her own home, she is hesitant to leave the nest.

16 and Pregnant Recap: My, Oh Miah, What a Teen Relationship Mess

On this week’s 16 and Pregnant, the most recent young couple to be followed by mtv is Jamie McKay and her boyfriend Ryan from Asheville, North Carolina. Jamie is a senior honor student and student council member who is hoping her baby will have the father she never had. Unfortunately, her daughter’s paternity is the product of a drunken, deadbeat, irresponsible teenage boy. He’s lost his license due to multiple speeding tickets and a DUI. Ryan sounds like a clASS act. I swear, mtv should’ve saved Jordan Ward and her role model worthy baby daddy Brian Finder till the end of the season…not the premiere. Now I am measuring all the young fathers against him, and I know that is a total lost cause.

We learn that (yet again) the couple didn’t use any form of birth control. Calling mtv execs…perhaps you should have more contraceptive PSAs airing during the show and less shampoo commercials–just an idea. Jamie’s friends were shocked to find out her news, and while they don’t seem too keen on Ryan, they are supportive. One lad, wise beyond his years (??) opines (and I paraphrase), “A mother becomes a mom when she gets pregnant, but a father doesn’t feel like a dad until his sees his baby.” Here’s hopin’! Jamie’s mother isn’t Ryan’s biggest fan either, and he heads farther down the pecking order when he can’t attend Jamie’s doctor’s appointment because he’s due in court for that whole “bad driver” silliness. And oh, the doctor’s appointment…the look on that poor ob-gyn’s face when she asks Jamie what she was most concerned about with birth and motherhood. Answer? Stretch marks. Please, sweet young girl, try to realize the gravity of what is about to happen.

PHOTOS – Meet The New Cast of Teen Mom 2! Plus Amber Portwood Denies Pregnancy

If you thought the whole Teen Mom phenom was over, think again!

MTV has now announced the all new cast of Teen Mom 2! The new season with the new cast is set to premiere January 11 on the network.

The new cast includes 4 of the girls from the latest season of 16 and Pregnant. Above is one of the cast members Leah Messer, a bubbly cheerleader who had only been dating her boyfriend Corey Simms for a month when she discovered she was pregnant with twins! Leah is now 18-years-old and proud mom to Aliannah and Aleeah, 12 months. Leah and baby daddy Corey however broke up after she cheated with an ex.

And fret not as the original Teen Moms aka Amber, Farrah, Maci, and Catelynn are still returning for a third season. The remaining cast photos and bios below of the new Teen Moms below.

In other Teen Mom news, a day after two national magazines (Star and In Touch Weekly) reported she was pregnant, Amber Portwood is now denying the news.

“The rumors are absolutely false. I’m not pregnant,” Amber, 20, said to UsWeekly in a statement. “I’m working hard to be the best mom to my daughter,” she adds. “I have no plans to have more kids anytime soon.”
