Couples Therapy Welcomes Self-Proclaimed Happy Couples Silex from RHONY and Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison from Creepyville

Quick question…how can you tell when people just want to live their lives in the reality television spotlight?  Apparently the answer lies within VH1’s show Couples Therapy.  It seems to be the show that has-been reality couples go to revive their careers (how’s that working out, Guard and Protect Kasey Kahl?).  Even the couples who are adamant about their strong unions seem so seek out the “self-help” show when they fall off the reality radar.

Case in point?  SilexAlex McCord and Simon Van Kempen were attached at the hip for their seasons on Real Housewives of New York.  The goo-goo-ga-ga couple often bragged about their intense connection and spending minimal time apart.  In fact, the couple spent a ridiculous amount of time looking down their noses at their counterparts for not having as strong a union as they shared…maybe by “union” I mean wardrobe…

Fast forward to Silex being fired from RHONY and not being able to score another reality gig.  Now their marriage is “crumbling” according to the duo.  TMZ reports that the pair hopes to save their relationship by hashing out their differences on the horrid reality show.  They will be joined by the likes of Bachelor alum Shayne Lamas and her husband (who she wed after knowing less than a day) gross website purveyor Nik Richie of TheDirty.com.  I’m shocked to hear they’re suffering after the recent birth of their daughter Press…named in honor of what they hoped she would garnish for them.

Also in therapy this upcoming season will be JoJo (yes, of K-Ci and JoJo fame…or that one song) and his wife, alongside rapper Too $hort and his 15-year on-again-off-again girlfriend Monica Payne.  But wait…

The show will also feature everyone’s favorite 1950-1998 May-December romance between Doug Hutchison, the extra actor who is pushing sixty, and his sixteen-year-old child bride Courtney Stodden.  And they said they weren’t together to gain reality fame…I totes believed them, too!  The same site alleges that the couple needs some help due to “obvious problems in their relationship because of their age difference and the notoriety they’ve gotten because of their relationship.”  Funny that fame whoring wasn’t cited in their reason for joining the show.  Oh Couples Therapy…the place ailing “reality” stars go to die.
