Summer House Drama: Cristina Gibson Defends Herself After Lindsay Hubbard Claims She Was Fired

From the very first episode of Summer House, it was obvious that roomies Cristina Gibson and Lindsay Hubbard were going to be arguing throughout the season. It just seemed like a case of spending too much time together since they live together in New York City during the week and in Montauk on the weekends, but thanks to social media it is clear that Cristina and Lindsay are not friends.

Not only that, but they’ve been shading and directly insulting each other on Instagram and Twitter. So in some way they are teasing that there is even more drama to come on the season between them. Not only are these two coming for each other- HARD- but Kyle Cooke has also stepped in to defend Cristina just like he did in the latest episode.

I knew right away that there was going to be a lot of tension between Cristina and Lindsay this season, but I was completely shocked when Lindsay decided to throw her under the bus by saying she lied about her job situation and that she actually got fired. What. The. Fuck. What kind of “friend” puts somebody on blast like that, especially on a reality TV show?

Sure, we saw some issues between the two of them earlier in the episode when Cristina wasn’t down for Lindsay’s interns working from their living room in the city, but apparently there was more to the story. In regard to that intern “conversation” where Lindsay basically just told Cristina that those interns were coming, Cristina tweeted, “Since when is having a calm conversation and asking your roommate to be respectful considered “flipping the f**k out”? #SummerHouse.” Obviously, we don’t get to see everything, but it seems like it’s her world and everyone else is just living in it.

Apparently I wasn’t the only one who felt like Lindsay never actually asked if her interns could come through because other people tweeted at Cristina saying the same thing to which she responded, “Yes! @LindsHubbs doesn’t ever ask permission, she just does whatever she wants with zero consideration for others.” Again, not shocked based on what we’ve seen so far on the show.

There was even more Twitter back and forth about the interns situation- these poor interns. When a viewer pointed out that Lindsay asked for the interns to be around “for a while” and not “one day” like Lindsay keeps saying, Lindsay responded to the fan and tagged Cristina (petty) to say, “Nope… I was VERY clear about it only being #ONEDAY @CristinaGibson is clearly #jealous yet again. #summerhouse.” Lindsay, we all watched the episode and most of us have DVR. A quick rewind, shows that you did actually say “a while” and Cristina reiterated that in one of her tweets: “Rewatch the episode and you say 2 weeks at first. But just keep on lying Lindsay, we expect it from you by now!”

Aside from the intern drama, the real shit show went down during that party when Lindsay flipped out for no reason and decided to call out Cristina and tell her she lied about her job and actually got fired. Cristina clarified what actually went down: “I was NOT fired or let go. I wasn’t allowed to film this show while working there so I stepped down from my position to film #SummerHouse” That’s really not uncommon in reality TV. A lot of people have sacrificed their “normal person” jobs to be on shows.

Cristina posted a still from the episode of the scene in question with her and Lindsay with an EXTREMELY petty caption: “When your roommate and former best friend gets wasted and lies about you on national TV #summerhouse#badfriend.”Lindsay pulled no punches after she got majorly slammed and she posted a link to an article and wrote, “Are you saying that @PageSix lies? As a reporter, you should know better!”

Lindsay continued dragging Cristina when she tweeted, “Do yourself a favor… google and find the article @CristinaGibson wrote on the party. Can’t find it? That’s because she lied about that too.”

Weirdly enough, Kyle was the only who came to Cristina’s defense. Cristina acknowledged that when she tweeted, “Kyle is the best, definitely grateful for his friendship. Thank you for the support and kind words! #summerhouse.” Kyle also defended Cristina on Twitter after she said she wasn’t fired when he tweeted, “This is why I defend Cristina – the whole house knew the deal. I couldn’t form words in the car…but yea…if you don’t know now you know.”

Cristina further clarified, “If I was fired, P6 would have said that. We parted ways because I wanted to do the show and they didn’t. Enough!!” Honestly, I’m sure that everyone in the cast knew that Cristina had to leave her job behind for the show, but it would really be one of those “breaking down the fourth wall” moments to actually acknowledge that on the show. It seems like Lindsay was trying to undermine Cristina and get some screen time.

As a human being, I feel sad to see the end of a friendship that these two women have had for years. As a viewer, I feel sad that these two weren’t this heated on the actual show. Now, I just want to know who was right when it comes to this she said, she said drama.
