Stephanie Hollman Discusses New Friendship With LeeAnne Locken & Fan Who Decided Not To Commit Suicide After Watching Real Housewives Of Dallas

During Season 3 of Real Housewives of Dallas, longtime enemies Stephanie Hollman and LeeAnne Locken opened up to each other about their past suicide attempts. They realized that they had more in common than either one of them initially realized.

During the second episode of the season, Stephanie shared even more about her past with depression and why she contemplated taking her own life. Her willingness to be so honest about her past and her openness to befriending LeeAnne have made her own of the most compelling cast members to watch this season.

Stephanie discussed Season 3 of Real Housewives of Dallas during an episode of the Everything Iconic With Danny Pellegrino podcast. She revealed, “The response this year has been so overwhelmingly positive and kind. I do not understand it, but I’m very appreciative of it.”

She admitted that she was nervous to share her suicide attempt with the viewers. Stephanie explained, “It’s so different whenever you film because you’re with a crew and producers that you’re so comfortable with. I just became very comfortable and was able to open up to them, but whenever you’re counting the days for it to come out on TV, it’s very different because I felt very nervous about being judged or people thinking that I was crazy. You just never know what people will say and it was something that mattered to me.”

Stephanie confessed, “It was hard and I never really had dealt with, especially the suicide attempt at 22. I had never dealt with it. It just happened. It was a dark time in my life. I told maybe five people. Brandi [Redmond] knew. Travis [Hollman] knew. A few close friends. My mom of course. It was something I was very ashamed of. Sharing something shameful was hard for me.”

As tough as it was for Stephanie to open up about such a sensitive topic, her willingness to do so has resulted in something great. She shared, “I’ve gotten so many positive responses from viewers. It was amazing. I’ve had people that have dealt with the same thing I have, people that have lost loved ones to suicide. I had one woman the night the show aired, whose husband had just left her and her three kids for another women, and she said that she had written out her suicide note, she was going to kill herself that night, and she watched the show, and decided not to.”

Stephanie continued, “That to me, showed that even something like reality TV can really impact people’s lives in a positive and profound way. It was really by far the most amazing thing I’ve ever put out there. As scary as it was, I was so happy I did because it taught me a lot about myself too.”

Season 3 has been full of breakthroughs for Stephanie. She has been willing to disregard her problems with LeeAnne in an effort to build a genuine friendship with her. She admitted, “I think it was a little bit of both of us. I think that we’ve finally for the first time in years actually sat down and kind of put our guard down and got to know each other for who we really are. I think before we had these preconceived notions of who we thought we were. I thought she was scary and aggressive. She just overwhelmed me and I never felt safe to be her friend. I think for her, we have very different personalities.”
