Captain Lee Rosbach Traumatized By Ashton Pienaar Falling Overboard On Below Deck

It feels like they have been teasing Ashton Pienaar’s fall on Below Deck forever. The viewers finally caught a glimpse at the moment during last episode, but it was at the very end. Of course, they hit us with a cliffhanger.

Thankfully, Ashton is OK, but the incident had a profound effect on the crew, even the normally unflappable Captain Lee Rosbach.

During last night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen said, “It looks like [Ashton was] attached to the line. Is that a fair assumption?” Captain Lee revealed, “What he actually did is he stepped into the bite. The bite is the coil of the line that’s controlling the toll line.”

Andy wondered, “How big of a deal is this?” The Stud of the Sea confessed, “In 35 years of yachting, I have never had an experience that affected me the way that this one did. Ever. It was just so traumatic.” He added, “It’s brutal.”

Speaking of Ashton, but switching gears to a much lighter topic, Andy asked new bosun Ross Inia about their bromance. Ross said, “We clicked. Definitely. I think we just had similar interests and the same personalities, very humble, very quiet.”

Rhylee Gerber smirked and asked, “Similar interests?” Obviously, she was alluding to Ross and Ashton both sneaking into her bunk for a makeout session.

Andy came through with a very shady follow-up question. He asked Rhylee, “Were you flattered that Ross said that when he drinks, you become more attractive?” She answered, “No. There’s nothing flattering about that.” Ross joked (I think), “I thought it was a compliment.”

That makeout really came out of nowhere. As Ashton eloquently phrased it, “they went from being at each other’s throats to being at each other’s throats.” They argue all day every day during work. Apparently, there was just some sexual tension there. Or they just had no other options on the boat.

Rhylee’s attitude got so out of hand that Captain Lee weighed in, “It was very fortunate for Rhylee that I didn’t hear her response because the outcome would have been very different.”

Rhylee acknowledged, “I shouldn’t have spoken the way that I did to my superior. I completely one hundred percent agree that it’s out of line.” But will it continue for the rest of the season? Most likely. Maybe she will redeem herself during the Below Deck reunion. Fingers crossed.

Later in the episode, Rhylee was asked to say three nice things about Chandler Brooks. Instead, she just said “No.”

Captain Lee kept it classy, as per usual, with his remarks about Chandler. He explained, “Chandler, I felt his heart was in the right place. He just didn’t have the necessary tools to deal with the crew that he had on board.”

Last week on Watch What Happens Live, Kate Chastain admitted she was hurt when Captain Lee questioned her after Caroline Bedol quit. Captain Lee addressed her grievance.

He explained, “I can understand Kate’s frustration at my comments and questioning her. I only have to deal with the facts that I’m given at the time and not allegations. Caroline came to me with three pages of things that she had written down that I cannot substantiate.” THREE PAGES!? What did she write down?

Captain Lee continued, “So, I’m faced with the decision of saying who am I going to believe? But, do I have to say something? I think it was necessary at that point. Looking back on it, 20/20 in hindsight, there was no contest there.”
