Taylor Armstrong Says Daughter Kennedy Doesn’t Miss Her Late Dad Russell

Taylor Armstrong was one of the original Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Taylor instantly made a splash thanks to her oversized pout and over-the-top birthday parties for her daughter Kennedy Armstrong. Additionally, she was known for a dark storyline that involved a toxic marriage to Russell Armstrong that ended in his suicide and her own very public nervous breakdown.
One month before Russell killed himself in August 2011, Taylor filed for divorce, citing physical and verbal abuse. After Russell’s death, Taylor remarried John Bluher and started a new life in Colorado. She and John appeared on the show Couples Therapy together. Taylor has also appeared on RHOBH since her departure after season 3, and rumors swirl periodically that she will return as a full-time Housewife.  Recently Taylor has opened up about how Kennedy, now 12-years-old, is doing years later after the loss of her father.

In an article in US Weekly, Taylor revealed that Kennedy was aware of the alleged abuse between her parents despite Taylor’s attempts to shield her.  Taylor recalled talking about Russell’s death with Kennedy during an interview on a podcast called Divorce Sucks with divorce attorney Laura Wasser.

“My psychiatrist had said to continue to bring up her father to her so that she doesn’t think that people just disappear,” Taylor said. “I was saying, ‘Do you miss daddy?’ And she said, ’No. N-O.’”

The former Real Housewives star added that she tried to remind Kennedy of happier times with her father like during a trip to Hawaii, but it didn’t change her daughter’s mind. Kennedy maintained that she did not miss her father.  “She [Kennedy] waited for a minute and then she said, ‘Why would you miss a boy who screamed at you all the time?’” Taylor shared. “Thank goodness she was sitting behind me because I had tears running down my face, just feeling like I thought I had done a better job of protecting her.”

Taylor spoke about the alleged abuse on the podcast. She shared, “I say, ‘People don’t ask you out on a first date and punch you in the face. I had no access to our bank accounts, he controlled all of the money…A lot of [financial] controls and definitely a lot of verbal criticism that wears a person down.”

This dark chapter in Real Housewives history was documented on season 2 of RHOBH. This feels like a whole lifetime ago at this point.
