D’Andra Simmons Says She Doesn’t Know “What’s In LeeAnne’s Heart” Regarding Racist Comments On Real Housewives Of Dallas

When the mid-season trailer for The Real Housewives of Dallas dropped last week, viewers and Housewives alike were shocked to see LeeAnne Locken spew seemingly racist remarks at cast mate Kary Brittingham regarding her Mexican heritage.

While the drama surrounding the racially-charged insults appears to dominate the back half of Season 4, D’Andra Simmons is speaking out  in a new interview about her take on the OG’s behavior and poor choice of words.

“What I think about that is, I don’t know what’s in her heart,” D’Andra admitted during a sit-down with People TV’s Reality Checked. “Because, you know, actions and words are powerful. So when you say things, I of all people should know when you say something that can cause you harm — as I did last year — and others harm, there are consequences.”

Of course, the RHOD star is referring to the comments she made regarding the rumors of infidelity surrounding her former bestie’s now-husband Rich Emberlin during Season 3. After LeeAnne implied on camera that D’Andra only had “$200 in her bank account” during the cast trip to Beaver Creek, Colo., the struggling skincare maven fired back that the OG and her then-fiancé “lead separate lives,” thereby lighting the dynamite that led to the best friends’ explosive falling out. (Despite apologizing to LeeAnne earlier this season for bringing up the cheating rumors on camera, D’Andra refused to refute her claim that Rich had been unfaithful.)

When it comes to the seemingly racist remarks uttered by LeeAnne, the RHOD star only hopes her bestie-turned-frenemy is regretful of her choice of words and is leaving it up to the fans to decide whether or not LeeAnne is racist.

“I don’t know why she chose to say those words,” D’Andra continued. “And not only once but several times. So I’m concerned about that, but at the end of the day, I don’t know LeeAnne‘s heart as far as what she meant by that or…I’m sure she looks back and says, ‘God I wish I hadn’t done that’ as I did last year; I wish I hadn’t’ve said those things and started something. So she’s gonna have to deal with it, but I think really, the viewers have to decide what they think about it. It’s not for me to decide or to say.”
