RHOP Monique Samuels Real Housewives of Potomac

Monique Samuels Responds To Cast Claims That She’s Not A Good Role Model For Her Daughter After Fight With Candiace Dillard

In the latest episode of Real Housewives of Potomac, we saw the real and raw fallout from Candiace Dillard and Monique Samuels’ physical fight.

Candiace declined to meet with the ladies to tell her side of it and decided to work it out in therapy instead. Candiace still maintains that she did nothing to provoke Monique, despite what the cameras caught. I’m not saying she deserved it at all. I’m just pointing out that it’s a weird hill to die on when everyone can see that Candiace played her own role in egging Monique on. Monique, for her part, didn’t seem to have a ton of remorse in her meeting with the ladies either. And let’s just say, that didn’t sit well with anyone.

Hoping for some kind of accountability from Monique, the cast of RHOP was let down big time. I mean, I think we did see the writing on the wall and whose mind was made up before Monique even started talking. Gizelle Bryant showing up with a bodyguard was next level shade. Can we even call it shade given how obvious it was?

Anyway, Monique’s lack of accountability for her actions prompted the women to come down on her hard. They accused her of not being a good role model for her daughter. Monique didn’t seem to take that too well. Now that the dust has settled, Monique still takes issue with the allegation.

In a recent Instagram post, Monique defended herself and what kind of role model she believes she is. Monique began the post with, “My pride and joy along with my two sons” alongside an admittedly adorable photo of her and daughter Milani.

She continued, “To say that I’m not a role model to MY DAUGHTER is not only judgmental but insensitive. I started @notforlazymoms to stop the judgment and mom shaming. I will always be the best role model to my daughter because I keep it absolutely real with her.”

Monique also admitted, “I’m open with her about my mistakes, my successes and my personal struggles. I push her to be BETTER than me which is what any parent wants for their children. I teach her how to pick herself up when she falls. Being a mom is not easy but I do my best to be transparent with my children so that they can be their best selves.” She then goes on to give a shout out to who braided Milani’s hair in the photo. Really.

To be perfectly honest, I’m Team Candiace at this point. While Candiace may have taunted her, Monique was not within her rights to get physically violent with her. As a grown woman, she has to have the emotional regulation to deal with people she can’t stand. Even if it’s a friend who you believe wronged you. But to grab someone’s hair and punch their head is not only NOT cute but it’s downright unacceptable.

Monique was clearly still feeling some kind of way when she sat down with the ladies. What she should have done was closed Twitter. Then spoken with that pastor she keeps referring to. THEN met with them when she had some kind of remorse for her actions. It’s hard to cape for someone who doesn’t show any remorse for attacking someone else. Heck, just be humbled at the very least.

But Monique isn’t. And unfortunately for her, she is leaving her castmates no choice but to turn their backs on her.
