Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City Star Meredith Marks Admits That She & Her Husband Have Dated Other People For Years; Says “Our Own Children Didn’t Know We Were Separated”

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is the gift that keeps on giving. Bravo has bestowed upon us some interesting personalities, a fresh locale, and one cast member who married her step-grandfather. (Shout out to Mary Cosby!)

In the RHOSLC premiere, we met Meredith Marks, who is a successful jewelry designer. Her husband, Seth Marks, spends most of his time in Chicago for his job. The couple has three adult children: Reid, Chloe, and Brooks Marks.

In the second episode, fans saw Seth and Meredith during a tense dinner date. Seth wanted to know who is aware that they are already separated. Wait–aren’t you supposed to join a Housewives franchise then split up?

The couple, who tied the knot in 1996, have been struggling for a while. In August of 2019, Seth actually filed for divorce, citing the ever-popular irreconcilable differences. Then Seth stopped the legal proceedings in December of 2019.

Meredith said that the duo was adjusting to being empty-nesters. She shared, “We have had a bit of a volatile relationship for many years.” That is the understatement of the year!

US Weekly reported that Meredith shed some light on the state of her marriage during a November 20 interview on the Getting Real with the Housewives podcast. Meredith said, “The separations we’ve had have been on and off for years and we’ve even dated other people from time to time. It was not something I really wanted to talk about, but I had to and was forced to talk a lot more than I even wanted to by some of the women and that to me is not being a good friend,” she explained.

You signed up for a reality show, Meredith. It’s not a shock that you had to share that information. “To me being a good friend is respecting somebody’s space and their privacy when they need it,” Meredith remarked.

But the biggest bombshell involves the couple’s kids. Meredith shared, “Our own children didn’t know we were separated, and we were living in the same home, raising our kids, trying our best to keep a strong parental front for our children.”

And the Oscar for best portrayal of a happy couple goes to… Meredith and Seth! “In retrospect, I feel like had we been more open about it, we may have been able to address things and nip them in the bud a lot faster,” Meredith admitted in a video clip. “So, I don’t know if I would actually encourage someone else to do what I did.”

Meredith stated, “I know why I did it for my own family and I know my intentions were good, but I’m not sure it was really the right choice.”

She added, “My kids were surprisingly very supportive.” I still can’t imagine living in a home with your parents and not suspecting they were separated. Awkward!

So, what is the status of Meredith’s relationship with her husband now? “I mean, we met at 23 years old, so we’re always going to have a relationship together and above and beyond that –watch and see.”

The jewelry designer said, “I want everyone to be invested in my journey. I don’t want to give away any endings.”
