It’s been quite a pleasure getting to know Izzy Wouters on Below Deck this season. From her listless days with the interior staff, to absolutely shining on deck, Izzy’s professionalism and banter with her co-workers gives the show a great balance of humor and entertainment.
Actually, it’s Izzy’s exchanges with bunk mate James Hough that are just top notch hilarity. He may have been testing the waters with all of the ladies on board, but Izzy teases James in the way a sibling might. Izzy could have just not been that into James, and we would have left it at that. But the amount of male attention Izzy gets on social media since appearing on the show has inspired her to reveal her sexual preference. In a witty delivery that only she could create.
Izzy took to her Instagram Wednesday to set the record straight. She wrote, “the face of the straight men who slide into my dm’s when I say – HELLO MY NAME IS IZZY AND I AM OUT AND PROUD.” Izzy also shared pictures of herself with a surprised expression.
Izzy’s crew mates and former cast members congratulated her for coming out and representing the LGBTQ community in the industry.
Reading the supportive posts is also like taking a trip down Below Deck memory lane, as many alums shared words of encouragement.

Anastasia Surmava posted, “lol, you a f–king star.” Courtney Skippon wrote, “WE LOVE TO SEE IT,” and laughed at Izzy’s hashtags. Kasey Cohen resurfaced to write, “the girls stay winning.”
This season’s crew also wrote in support of Izzy. Chef Rachel Hargrove shared a celebratory emoji, while Bosun Eddie Lucas wrote, “get it girl!! You the best!”
Izzy always came off as true to herself and authentic on the show. It’s so great that she is comfortable to be transparent about her sexual preference as well.
