Accusations of racism are running rampant within the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast. Heather Gay was the OG recipient of the title last season when Jen Shah went off on a social media tirade against her best friend. Mary Cosby reportedly said she avoids convenience stores when minorities are present outside. She and Heather shared the same accusator.
And now Jen has a new target, though arguably, she may have rightly taken offense to what Whitney Rose said. But Whitney was certainly not only RHOSLC housewife to question Jen’s finances. Her lavish lifestyle and incoming funds made zero sense even to her bestie Heather. The Season 2 trailer teased that Jen’s nemesis Meredith Marks had something to do with her arrest.
So Whitney was understandably skeptical of Jen’s finances, but perhaps her communication of that intuition was off. She assumed that Jen had a sugar daddy, and said so publicly. Well, Whitney WOULD know about massively profiting from a sexual relationship, though she did marry the man that now funds her lifestyle. Mazel.
Jen was quick to clap back to defend herself and Sharrieff Shah. In a tweet, Jen responded, “I’m a successful Polynesian business woman for twenty years married to a very successful black husband who’s been an attorney for 13 yrs, NFL sports agent for 10 yrs Power5 Football Coach for 10 yrs & YOU’RE ASSUMPTION IS I HAVE A SUGAR DADDY!”

Some may take issue with Jen labeling herself a business woman. Though the allegations of money laundering and fraud against Jen have not been proven at this time, the Feds don’t show up for just anybody. The suspicion and relevant data was there to warrant her arrest, where it goes from here is anybody’s guess.
So was Whitney questioning Jen’s success because of her race or because her finances really didn’t make sense? You can be your own judge, but Jen certainly called it racism. In a following tweet, she said, “His name is COACH SHAH. Bcuz I’m Brown & my husband is black, you question our $$$”
RHOSLC fans know that Jen doesn’t take criticism well. And deflection is the name of the game, sobbing over not being able to fit in and the like. But Whitney’s comment wasn’t the most sensitive towards Jen or her husband.
