The first few episodes of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip are everything I could have wanted and more. Now I have admitted here before, I thought the show would be mindless Bravo filler. Maybe even boring, despite the action-packed trailer. But RHUGT has proved me wrong and I’m not afraid to admit it.
There has been plenty of fighting already and it’s no surprise who is front and center in a lot of the issues on the show. Ramona Singer. Duh. She’s already fought with Kenya “Kenya Moore Hair Care!” Moore and it certainly didn’t go down in her favor. The Real Housewives of New York longtime cast member should know better than to mess with Kenya. Ultimately, she apologized to Kenya but we all know Ramona’s apologies are as pointless as Melissa Gorga’s storylines.
But one person who seems to be in Ramona’s corner is fellow costar Kyle Richards. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills OG recently spoke about her admiration to Entertainment Tonight. Said Kyle, “I actually admire Ramona. Yes, she has her moments, but I also have seen a lot softer side of Ramona, and a very sweet side of Ramona. She opened up a lot about some things towards the end of the trip, which explained a lot to me about Ramona, and how she kind of operates and why she does the things she does.”
Kyle went on to tease, “You have to wait and see, but I did get to spend a lot of time with her. She is a lot of fun, I will say. Yes, she offends people sometimes. I don’t know if she’s just very unfiltered and says things that are not appropriate, but she also makes me laugh — and I forgive when people make me laugh. I can forgive anything if you make me laugh. And she was really making me laugh. And we were always like the ones that were ready to go and have fun all the time.”

I mean, I guess it’s easy to forgive someone who isn’t calling you a bitch within 30 minutes of meeting you. But dismissing Ramona’s poor behavior because she’s “fun” is pretty convenient, even for Kyle. And just when I was fooled into thinking Kyle was so much more likable after seeing her on RHUGT!
Kyle maintains that Ramona was always ready to have fun on the show. Even when they didn’t realize they were being filmed. Unlike the traditional housewives franchises, the cameras never stopped rolling on RHUGT. And they had mounted rigs throughout the villa so there really was no escape.
So I guess Kyle’s point is that we will be seeing better behavior from Ramona as the show goes on? Maybe even catch some candid moments of her not being a monster? Who knows. It’s hard to trust what Kyle says when we have watched Ramona offend people for years. Either way, I will still be watching. Not even Ramona could keep me from this gem of a show.
