Candiace Dillard Speaks Out Against Jennie Nguyen’s Racially Offensive Posts

Candiace Dillard is known for getting herself in trouble on social media. But Candiace is also an intelligent Black woman who isn’t going to put up with racism. The Real Housewives of Potomac star recently took to Twitter with some thoughts. This time, it wasn’t to roast her castmates, but to call out Jennie Nguyen. As we all know by now, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has been rocked by Jennie’s scandal. Jennie was exposed for posting a multitude of racially offensive memes on her Facebook account as recently as 2020.

While it took an unusually lengthy amount of time for Bravo to address the situation, they finally announced Jennie’s firing. Bravo’s official statement read, “Bravo has ceased filming with Jennie Nguyen and she will no longer be a cast member on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake CityWe recognize we failed to take appropriate action once her offensive social media posts were brought to our attention. Moving forward, we will work to improve our processes to ensure we make better informed and more thoughtful casting decisions.”

Candiace retweeted the statement once it was announced, but she had already spoken out about it beforehand. In a series of tweets, Candiace used her platform to condemn Jennie’s actions. Her first tweet read, “I know what it feels like to have to look at one’s self in the mirror and grapple with hurtful things I have said. What I also know is that everyone deserves a chance to learn and grow.”

She continued, “Jennie must be willing to first acknowledge that there is a bias and do the work — whether organically or intentionally — of unlearning. This is not something she can do in the public eye and the BIPOC her bigoted views target will not let her.” Her last tweet concluded, “Willing or not, reflection needs to be done away from this platform. We do not deserve to be triggered by the presence of someone who justified unlawful killings of Black people just over one year ago in our spaces.”

Candiace wasn’t the only housewife from another franchise to speak out. Dr. Tiffany Moon from Real Housewives of Dallas posted a statement saying that she was “appalled” and saddened” by the news. The entire cast of RHOSLC also unfollowed Jennie and issued their own statements condemning Jennie’s behavior.

Regardless of what you think of Candiace, she handled a painful situation flawlessly.
