Our girls are back! The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy just premiered its first three episodes on Peacock, and it’s honestly better than any Christmas gift Santa could have brought.
Ahead of the premiere, Dorinda Medley and Sonja Morgan sat down to dish on what we can expect from this trip. As you can imagine, there was a lot to discuss.
They spoke with TooFab about what it was like being back with the RHONY cast, and they made it sound like filming RHUGT was just as much fun as it is to watch.
Back in the saddle
It’s been over two years since we’ve seen the RHONY crew together on screen. Of course, both Dorinda and Sonja have had reality TV projects during that time. Dorinda hosted RHUGT at Blue Stone Manor, and Sonja starred in Welcome to Crappie Lake along with Luann de Lesseps. Still, they said that being back with the rest of the RHONY OGs felt like being reunited with family.
Sonja shared, “After doing Crappie Lake with Luann for six weeks, I realized how close we all really are. The last few years I filmed with Dorinda, we got so close, even though we’d known each other. Of course, Ramona [Singer] and I are just like family, you know?”
The girls were excited to reunite and also felt freed by the looser structure of RHUGT compared to a regular Housewives season. On this show, they’re allowed to break the fourth wall and talk about their experiences being Housewives. Both ladies agreed that being allowed to break the fourth wall makes the show feel more real.
Dorinda said, “When you see us break the fourth wall and talk about stuff that maybe the audience didn’t know we’re going through or felt at the time of who we are, it’s humanizing for them. They realize, you know, it’s not always so easy for us.”
No responsibilities, no problem
On Dorinda’s first season of RHUGT, she had a huge undertaking of hosting the entire thing at her home. This time, they went to St. Barths, and Dorinda said it was “freeing” not having to be responsible for hosting the ladies.
She explained, “Hosting is a lot more, like a lot, a lot, a lot. I was so exhausted because they had to come beforehand and stay afterward, and I was responsible for stuff.”
Although this season of RHUGT just started, it’s never too soon to start thinking about the next trip, right? Sonja said she wants to see the RHONY ladies head to Europe for their next adventure. While brainstorming, Sonja said, “I’m thinking Barcelona, Spain, or maybe Tuscany, truffle season in Tuscany.”
On the other hand, Dorinda said she was ready to return to her role as the hostess with the mostess. She suggested having the next season center around Halloween at Blue Stone Manor. Can you imagine the sheer and utter chaos?
