Emily Simpson and Teddi Mellencamp Respond to James Kennedy Abuse Claims

The Two Ts In A Pod have expanded their podcast footprint, and their latest entry is called Popping Off with Teddi Mellencamp and Emily Simpson. It’s a Vanderpump Rules podcast. They’re only two episodes in, and they’re already getting messy. In their latest episode, they weighed in on the abuse claims levied against James Kennedy.

James recently catapulted himself into the coveted position of “number one guy in the group,” but allegations about James date back to his romance with Kristen Doute. The VPR alum cryptically hinted that his “dark” truths would come to the surface one day.

Meanwhile, Rachel Leviss has also shared various allegations about James. More recently, she suggested that Bravo rehired Kristen for The Valley to keep her from opening up about James’ alleged abuse. She compared Kristen’s casting on the new VPR spinoff to paying someone “hush money.” On the podcast, Emily and Teddi shared their thoughts.

Emily and Teddi’s hot take on James Kennedy “abuse”

In Pump Rules Season 9, Rachel returned her engagement ring to James during the reunion. She said she did it because it felt like the safest way to have that interaction. Emily and Teddi played the clip from that moment, and then they weighed in on the recurring allegations. Emily theorized that “where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”

“You can only have so many allegations all the time before there has to be some truth rooted in these,” Emily explained. “You can’t just have all these different accusations and they are all just fabricated.”

Teddi agreed, and she called out the rest of the cast for propping James up and elevating him as “the number one guy.” Why would the rest of the cast want to keep an alleged abuser in their midst?

Teddi explained, “When it comes to James and any of these physical abuse allegations when it comes to Kristen or Rachel … all of the women while filming Vanderpump Rules last season supported James.”

“I feel like this is all getting to a point where when you’re in tunnel vision you’re only talking about what is making good TV at that moment and not necessarily thinking of the other situations and not putting past history involved,” Teddi explained.

Meanwhile, on Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules, James has settled into his new position. He’s DJ’ing all over the country. He and his new girlfriend Ally Lewber seem as happy as ever. Still, these allegations of abuse continue to haunt him. Even if the current VPR cast doesn’t acknowledge it.

New episodes of Vanderpump Rules air on Bravo, Tuesday nights at 8/7c.
