RHOA Producer Hints at New Cast: ‘Eclectic Mix’

For a long time, fans knew The Real Housewives of Atlanta was due for a shakeup. Only now are we seeing the truth of our suppositions coming to light, with Sanya Richards-Ross being the third recent RHOA star to now be a former RHOA star.

Before Sanya, Kandi Burruss and Marlo Hampton confirmed their departure from the franchise as well. Adding to the breaking news around Atlanta, Porsha Williams announced she’d be returning to the show.

As mentioned, many viewers saw the writing on the wall. Even producers knew the show would need tweaking after Season 15’s poor ratings. While several fans were hoping for a full reboot, Real Housewives of New York style, it would seem Bravo has something more interesting in mind.

Bravo producer teases “one of the most powerful seasons” of RHOA, with a mostly-new cast

In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun, RHOA producer Peta Phipps shared as many details as she could about the upcoming season and its cast. When asked to spill the tea, she replied, “I wish I could. I wish I could. But, I mean, the ink is drying on some of those contracts right now.” However, she teased, “Wait until you see who’s going to be on the show.”

She couldn’t name names, but she also said, “I’m going to say that there’s a good mix,” meaning, a good mix of new and familiar faces. “You’ll be excited. It’ll probably be one of the most powerful seasons just because of the eclectic mix that’s coming.”

Her final note on the cast was “It’s going to be re-energized, let’s put it that way … I can only say, ‘stay tuned!’”

As for whether the cast had the potential to boost ratings, Peta said, “I really think so. If I’m not mistaken, that was one of the top-graded franchises, not just blowing my own horn.”

She reflected on when ratings were higher with the likes of NeNe Leakes. “It was amazing,” she said. “Nene’s an amazing person. I like her a lot.” Peta revealed she and Nene “text all the time.”

Peta also revealed she kept in touch with Kim Zolciak, Cynthia Bailey, and Shereé Whitfield, calling them all “amazing.”

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is streaming on Peacock.
