Below Deck Mediterranean producers read the room and brought Aesha Scott back for Season 9. The last that fans saw of her on that particular series was, she was a second stew. Viewers responded to her positivity and quirky demeanor.
The New Zealand native was cast as a chief stew on Below Deck Down Under, but revealed that coming back to work for Captain Sandy Yawn as head of the interior was especially personal for her.
It turns out that Sandy has just as much respect for Aesha in return. Additionally, in the most recent episode of the show, she praised her chief stew for how she handled a frustrated Bri Muller.
Sandy thinks a lot of heads of department don’t know to “lift” up their crew
The third stew was struggling with laundry room duties on her first charter. Bri misplaced laundry belonging to the guests and was not able to stay on task, despite getting a lot of direction from Aesha.
Once the charter ended, the veteran Bravolebrity gave Bri a motivational talk, which Captain Sandy overheard.
“I’m really sorry that yesterday was such a stressful day for you,” Aesha said.
“I just felt s—ty for disappointing you because that’s the last thing I wanted to do,” Bri responded.
Aesha continued, “Honestly, it was the first day of a new boat. It was a f—king s—t show, everything was everywhere and you will find your place,” the chief stew said to Bri. “We will get better each day. You will be amazing today. Thank you for your hard work, I really appreciate it.”
After Bri left the room, Captain Sandy shared her thoughts on Aesha’s managerial skills.
“That was so good,” she told Aesha.
For her part, the reality TV star also wanted to “lift” up her crew.
“You know how many people are unaware of that?” Sandy asked.
Sandy has positive memories of all her chief stews
It’s a subtle nod, perhaps, to the numerous chief stews who have been cast on Below Deck Med since Hannah Ferrier’s firing in Season 5. They include Katie Flood, Bugsy Drake, and Tumi Mhlongo.
Sandy spoke highly about all the chief stews she’s had on an appearance on Watch What Happens Live from October 2023. She said, “I would work with every one of them [again], even Hannah.”
But the season is just getting started, and Aesha will likely be challenged again by her team.
