Leah McSweeney’s Lawyer Granted Permission To Dig into Private Bravo and Andy Cohen Recordings

Leah McSweeney and her lawyers caught a lucky break in their suit against Andy Cohen, Shed Media, and Bravo. For those who haven’t kept up with Leah’s legal battles, here’s a refresher.

In her suit against Bravo and co., Leah alleged that Real Housewives of New York producers encouraged her to drink on camera despite her sobriety. While that was Leah’s main claim, other accusations came to light as well. For example, the claim that Andy encouraged Housewives to do cocaine with him.

Bravo tried to get the case thrown out completely. Not only that, but they hoped they might stop the discovery in its tracks until the case was thrown out. Unfortunately for the network, Andy can’t always get what he wants.

On September 6, Page Six reported that Leah’s attorneys will soon begin the process of discovery if they haven’t already. Reportedly, the lawyers will have access to private recordings and documents related to the case. What these may look like is anyone’s guess. According to Page Six, the lawyers will also begin conducting under-oath interviews with some folks associated with the case.

However, even with discovery underway, Leah and her team should still be cautious. The judge has the option to throw the case out at any time. As mentioned, Andy and Bravo tried to have the case thrown out before discovery would even be an option. But Judge Lewis J. Liman of the Southern District of New York denied the request, letting discovery take its natural course.

Nevertheless, Judge Liman will continue deliberating whether the case should be thrown out or not. A rep for Andy declined Page Six’s request for comment while Bravo never responded to the request at all. There’s an old saying – if you have nothing nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. On the other hand, Bravo might see discovery as a waste of company time and resources. In either case, of course, they’d want to avoid the suit.

The Real Housewives of New York is streaming on Peacock.
