Why It Might Be Good for Lisa Vanderpump to Exit Pump Rules

Lisa Vanderpump might be the brains behind Vanderpump Rules, but the more I think about it, the more I feel she should say goodbye to SUR. For over a decade, Lisa has been at the helm of the series. Often popping in to give advice. But for the last few years, it has almost felt like she is a stranger in her own restaurant. So, instead of wearing out her welcome, I think Lisa should just hang up her key and walk away from the franchise. Here’s why.

The cast doesn’t need Lisa Vanderpump anymore

It’s right about now that we have to be honest with one another. I don’t think that the cast needs Lisa as their mother hen. When Scandoval broke, it highlighted how far out of the loop the owner was. No one ran to her to ask for advice on how to deal with Tom Sandoval’s cheating ways. In fact, her words of wisdom to Tom seemed a bit out of line and fell flat. Lisa almost seemed to take Tom’s side in the end. And while they might be co-owners of TomTom, fans thought she would understand the difference between right and wrong.

During the reunion, she seemed to almost shame Ariana Madix and Lala Kent for voicing their opinions. Lisa’s attitude frankly rubbed a lot of viewers the wrong way. As the cast aged, Lisa lost control of the narrative. Vanderpump Rules was no longer about a group of young adults trying to make it in Hollywood. And now that they are full-fledged adults, these Bravolebs certainly do not need a 24/7 babysitter. At this point, Lisa only brings Villa Rosa to the table for a good party location.

Vanderpump Rules can thrive without Lisa Vanderpump

For the last few seasons of Vanderpump Rules, Lisa has, by her own hand, backed down from the limelight. She no longer shares many updates about her own life. Fans have noticed that Lisa is no longer lording over her staff and has been forced to take a back seat, proving the show will thrive just fine without her. Looking back to 2013, Lisa would float in between her fleet of eateries as she donned her silk shirts and a honey-do list. But those ships and times have sailed.

Lisa is moving on to other ventures. With the success of Hulu’s Vanderpump Villa, fans are getting a taste of what the old days were like. She once again has found herself ruling over unruly, young, and sexed-up employees. For viewers, it was a bit nostalgic, reminding them why Vanderpump Rules was such a success in the first place. Now, she is even bringing back hard hitter Stassi Schroeder. So, I don’t think our Beverly Hills queen is unprepared for a massive change. Fans just need to get on board.

Lisa Vanderpump is a guest on her own show

Rumors have been swirling that Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules might be the series’ last. Even though Lisa might have helped create the show, there are rumors she might be pushed out. A source told The Sun, “I heard … Bravo has been trying to push Lisa Vanderpump out of the show.” The insider stated, “First of all, her paycheck, the number that she adds to the show, second of all, her relevancy, with the cast having moved on from her restaurants.”

It also doesn’t help that none of the original cast currently work at SUR. There are no more back alley fights or kitchen crusades. The insider added, “For the past season, they’ve been trying to minimize her contact with the show. That’s Bravo’s doing. That’s nothing to do with the cast. So people are perceiving that to be Lisa distancing herself, and it’s not. It’s the other way around,” Thea explained. “It’s the show trying to distance itself from Lisa. She’s at like a guest star level now on Vanderpump. It’s a lot less money.”

Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
