Brittany Cartwright announced her separation from Jax Taylor on a February 2024 episode of their (former) joint podcast When Reality Hits, telling fans she needs to focus on her mental health. In a Season 2 episode of The Valley, Brittany confronted Jax after she discovered a woman had spent the night in their home. The confrontation led to a blowup fight in which Jax hurled several false accusations at Brittany, including saying she does not pay the bills for their home. The conversation escalated when Brittany brought up Jax’s issues with cocaine.
“You need help,” she said. “For yourself and for your son. He cannot grow up to be a person like you … You have to stay [at the treatment facility] and you have to take it seriously.”
Brittany told producers she hopes Jax stays at the facility for the full thirty days, but admitted she has doubts.
“He’s going to go for one day and then come right back,” she said.
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright fight in Big Bear -The Valley, Season 1
In Season 1 of The Valley, the group took a couples’ trip to Big Bear to celebrate Janet Caperna’s babymoon. The women decided to take advantage of the beautiful lake by going on a boat trip, which unfortunately, did not agree with Brittany’s stomach. Once they returned home, she retreated to the bedroom to rest. Her peace was disturbed when Jax arrived and started talking about her behind her back, suggesting her stomach issues stemmed from drinking too much. The women defended Brittany, saying she did not drink on the boat. Brittany overheard Jax’s accusations and left the bedroom to yell at him.
“Jax, I can f*cking hear you,” she yelled. “Everybody here has my back. You’re my husband, and you’re trying to make me look like a bad person.”

Jax told the half-truth when he got caught cheating with fellow SUR staffer Faith Stowers in Season 6 of Vanderpump Rules. He told Brittany he slept with Faith once, which was not the full story. Unfortunately, Jax’s words came back to haunt him when Brittany learned the truth at a girls’ night. She called Jax and asked him to share how many times he slept with Faith. Initially, he tried to deny it, claiming that it was a one-time occurrence. However, he came clean once it became clear that Brittany already knew the truth.
“What does it matter if I did it two or three times?” he said. The comment upset Brittany, who yelled, “You’re f*cking disgusting. I f*cking hate you.” Yikes.
Brittany Cartwright tells Jax Taylor to “rawt in hell” – Vanderpump Rules, Season 6
Jax endured Brittany’s wrath after she heard a recording of him in bed with Faith in Season 6 of VPR. The drama began when Lala Kent showed up to a house party armed with audio of Jax saying he never wants to marry Brittany nor have children with her. Lala played the audio for Brittany, and a fight broke out. She confronted him for lying about his intentions in the relationship and threatened to play the audio for the entire party. The most memorable moment was when she told Jax to “rawt in hell” in her iconic southern accent. Fans hoped that this would be the final straw for Brittany, but alas, it was not.

Season 1 of The Valley ended with a heated conversation between Jax and Brittany, who had recently decided to separate. Brittany confronted Jax for bailing on a therapy appointment because it was “too far” from their home. She reminded him that she would proceed with a divorce if he did not get help. Jax was dismissive of her concerns, saying their living situation was not “that bad” and she could move back in if she wanted to.
“You want me to live in the same house as someone who has disrespected me and been horrible to me?” she asked.
