Bravo has just announced several new series, including Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition. According to a press release, this new series features several hand-selected Real Housewives stars, whose identities sadly remain unknown. As for the premise, these reality television wives are stepping into a “real housewife’s” home, trying their hands at a life lived on the other side of the fence. These are the married ladies we hope Bravo chose.
Heather Dubrow
Heather Dubrow owns only the fanciest pairs of pants on Real Housewives of Orange County. Her life is elegant, and her storylines are mostly wrapped up nicely with hypothetical champagne-filled pink bows each season on Bravo. However, her narratives are often too clean, causing her co-stars to speculate whether or not she and her husband have ever purposely called the paparazzi to help clear any divorce-related headlines.
Nevertheless, last season on RHOC, the cameras caught a hot mic moment between Heather and her husband, Terry Dubrow. He admonished her on camera, causing Heather to scold him in the hallway from an out-of-sight location. This hush-hush moment, alongside her extreme showings of wealth, makes Heather one of our top dream cast members for this new series, Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition.
We want to see Heather trying to run another household using an average-sized salary. In return, we want to see a tired, overstimulated, regular mother stepping into her zero fucks-given affluent lifestyle in California, living their happiest life yet. Meanwhile, the cameras will show if Heather can handle self-care moments and controlled storylines while her new plebian children are outside, banging on her bathroom door, looking for her to make dinner for them and their non-PR-trained father.
To make her time impactful, Bravo could even place Heather in a home containing LGBTQ youth who might feel unseen. Heather could then love the heck out of these children, as she does her own on RHOC. She could teach their father (and the world) what unconditional love and acceptance can do for a child. Either way, Heather would bring the laughs and the love to this series.
Mary Cosby
Mary Cosby is a dry, unknowingly comedic star on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Like Heather, Mary desires the finer things in life. Yet, Mary also appreciates a McDonald’s drive-thru. This fact makes her (somewhat) relatable to typical mothers who live in their cars, shuttling kids from one location to the next.
Her work as a spiritual leader of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church would lend well to a wife swapping into a non-spiritual family. Could Mary convince her temporary humans to join her at their local place of worship? More intriguingly, might the woman hired to swap with Mary enter her often critiqued mega-church and then exit, offering raw, honest opinions on their first impressions?
Likewise, would Mary leave filming after a day, realizing she misses her wealth and silent rooms to retreat into? All these questions have us looking at Mary. Because we think she makes a solid casting choice for Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition.
Melissa Gorga
We would also love to see Melissa Gorga on display via Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition. This Real Housewives of New Jersey star knows how to parent, pivot, and party. And these skills could lend well to an entertaining handful of episodes for this new series.
If chosen to star in this cast, Melissa could swap lives with a wife from a remote, small town. This regular Joe-momma could thrive in New Jersey, spending her days and nights at hot spots around New York City. She could even use Joe Gorga as her talkative tour guide.
From her new vantage point, Melissa could work with her faux family on everything from fashion to fighting tips amongst siblings, all the way down to finding her new hosts’ inner fiercenesses. This latter storyline might even result in another solo release single from musician M-Gorga slash DJ MeliG or anything else she might wish to rebrand herself as now that her original series, RHONJ, is seemingly on another extended pause. So hear us out, Bravo, and cast Melissa on your Wife Swap spin-off.
Emily Simpson
For several seasons, fans of RHOC have been calling for Emily Simpson to get a storyline. Cue Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, a new series for Emily to sink her teeth into. Switching things up a bit, Emily is already a phenomenal mother to her younger children, so watching Emily navigate a household filled with teens might be comical, especially if Driver’s Education-like lessons arise. As long as Emily packs a turkey sandwich from Jersey Mike’s, this RHOC star should easily be able to tackle this new gig.
Likewise, whoever Emily swaps with, this real wife will get to shack up with Shane Simpson, our favorite “little dork” in the OC. Shane is dry, witty, and hysterical, which Emily feeds into and laughs at. But would another wife feel the same? There is only one way to find out, and it involves casting Emily on this new Wife Swap spin-off.
Lisa Barlow
Lisa Barlow loves everything on RHOSLC, including her husband, John Barlow. However, Season 5 was rough on Lisa, so Baby Gorgeous needs this opportunity to rest and reset. And what better way to do this than a new house (stocked with Diet Coke) in a new city with a new family?
Lisa creates excellent television. She is a blunt talker, maintaining delusional thoughts with matching quips. Lisa also excels at giving highly entertaining rants, which might be fun, depending on how her new husband reacts. Lisa is also a self-described Mormon 2.0, so if she swapped places with a devoutly conservative family, or even one living on the opposite end of her non-worldly spectrum, we might get television gold out of Lisa.
In return, John might enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle with his temporary wife. Either way, Lisa and John share one of the healthiest marriages in this franchise. If anyone can survive Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, it is them.
