Season 2 of The Valley documented in disturbing detail the breakdown of Jax Taylor’s marriage to Brittany Cartwright. The show also revealed that Jax flipped a coffee table, bruising Brittany’s knee. He went to rehab, but continued to rage-text his estranged wife. So, it wasn’t a surprise that Jax announced that he would not be part of Season 3 of The Valley. And now his former Vanderpump Rules co-star, Scheana Shay, is giving her reaction to his exit.
Scheana Shay calls Jax Taylor’s exit from The Valley a “smart decision”
Jax exited the series to focus on his mental health. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting,” he said in a statement. And Scheana, who guest stars on The Valley, is supportive of Jax’s decision.
“For Jax, I think that’s a smart decision. I think that’s a healthy decision,” Scheana said during her appearance on the podcast, So Bad It’s Good. “I think he does need to focus on his mental health and his sobriety right now. Being in rehab, trying to film a TV show, and having the FOMO [fear of missing out] and all of that.” She added, “None of that was healthy for him.”
Scheana continued, “I think this is a very smart and mature decision of him to focus on his sobriety. I hope he continues on that path for not just himself, but for [his son] Cruz and for Brittany.”
Of course, many Valley fans wanted Jax to get the ax after his aggressive behavior towards Brittany. While some questioned whether this is the last that we will see of Jax on Bravo, he reportedly may have an opening for a return.
Even Andy Cohen weighed in on Jax’s decision to leave The Valley. “And I think the most important thing is that I hope that he can work on all of his issues, and this comes up at the reunion,” Andy previously stated.
The Valley airs at 8/7c on Tuesdays on Bravo. It’s also available to stream on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
