With 100% certainty, we can say that Katie Maloney and Scheana Shay aren’t on good terms. Katie just went nuclear on Scheana during a recent episode of her appropriately named podcast, Disrespectfully. According to Katie, Scheana should be thanking her. She said if it weren’t for her, Scheana’s wedding to Brock Davies would have never been filmed for Vanderpump Rules Season 10.
Katie Maloney says Bravo didn’t want to film Scheana Shay’s wedding to Brock Davies
During the September 10 episode of Katie’s podcast, she dropped a few VPR production secrets to take Scheana down a notch. She felt like it was finally time to clap back at her former after Scheana made a few digs at her in her new memoir.
“It was because I’ve read some things about me in her book that I’ve seen. I’ve been told that she’s just referred to me as a drunk throughout her book, which is whatever. But when she had said that the new low for a cast member was me going to Mexico, I was like, ‘No,’” Katie said, referring to Scheana and Brock’s 2022 ceremony.
At the time of the nuptials, Katie and Scheana weren’t in a good place. However, Katie still wound up going to Mexico and staying at the same resort as the rest of the cast. Katie explained why things played out that way.
“It wasn’t because I wouldn’t get paid or I’d miss out,” Katie explained.
“Scheana — for months — was panicking because Bravo told her they were not going to film her wedding. They did not want to film her wedding,” she revealed.
According to Katie, VPR producers were “freaking out” because the majority of the cast wanted to go to the wedding, while Katie planned on staying in Los Angeles. Logistically, it didn’t make sense.
However, as Katie and Scheana’s friendship continued to deteriorate, a producer came up with a plan. Katie said he pitched to Bravo that she could take a separate vacation to the same place as Scheana’s wedding, so that there would be “two trips happening” at the same time. It would be a win-win for everyone.
Katie recalled, “I was like, ‘Alright, but is someone going to tell her this? Because I feel like if I’m just really pushing to go that it’s just going to be weird.’ I don’t want to go. I would rather stay home and pick my f*cking nose.”
Allegedly, Katie never told Scheana how things played out behind the scenes because she didn’t want to sound like a “f*cking asshole.” But, she felt like it was finally time to drop this tea after she got wind of Scheana’s shade in the book.
Katie said, “Here’s the thing. I am good at my job. I don’t speak about this sh*t.”
She continued, “I don’t spoil the behind-the-scenes stuff. I don’t make producers’ lives hard. That’s why I’ve never been demoted — unlike Scheana. So I’m better at my job than you were. And I didn’t want to be an asshole. Believe it or not, I feel like an asshole now talking about it. But if you must know, you must know.”
