Porsha Williams picked up her peach during Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. At the time, she was married to former NFL player Kordell Stewart. The couple seemed to be happy. That is, until Porsha found out via Twitter that Kordell had filed for divorce. That was a gut punch for Porsha, who was blindsided by the news.
Porsha knew she would have to show the ugly side on RHOA
In addition, Kordell locked Porsha out of the house. She ended up going back to her mom’s home. In an interview with Carlos King for his Reality with the King podcast, Porsha reflected on that difficult time in her life. And not only did Porsha move back home with her mom, but she also had to borrow $500 from her.
“How I joined the show in the beginning was, I’m a wife. You know, I have a husband who was famous. I have a certain pedigree from which I come from, and I wanted to unveil what a beautiful Black family looks like,” Porsha explained. Then, her world turned upside down.
She continued, “And the dotted line you signed on, they still got to see the ugly. Although I thought my life was perfect, and I wanted to cook his meals, that at this point, my Mama got to cook my meals.” In addition, Carlos applauded Porsha for showing her life during that time, and being “so real and so raw.”
The RHOA vet stated, “I think when I was able to let the camera see that a woman can see herself through a man’s eyes only, and then forget who she is, and then rebuild. That [that] was important to show, is when I clocked in,” she added.” After that point, Porsha knew that “longetivity would be there.”
As for RHOA season 17? This season is a bit lighter than last season, and it is a welcome change.
